Ok, I learned something today... I always thought it was guarded by Marines. Thanks for clearing that up for me

:anonymous:Apologies all around. I will say this. 2 years before i joined the corps i watched this and could have sworn all these years that i saw a Marine there doing the change over...I bow out gracefully and recant my life....This is what ASSUMEing gets you i guess. All these years i have been believing a lie...Now i will check my pants to see if i really have all the parts that i thought i had.....also i will be checking my DNA to ensure that i am my fathers son....someone give me a date check while we are at it.:smack:

No big deal. It's their uniforms that probably confuse a lot of people. The Army dress blues worn by the soldiers guarding the Tomb are very similar to one of the Marine dress uniforms. As for the other parts, the requirements just aren't that strict. I agree that there are standards that they should adhere to (as, likely, should we all), but those standards are much less than what was stated.

Truth be told, I really didn't know that much about all of it until I met this guy; I've really picked his brain a bunch since I learned he was a part of that. Very interesting stuff, though.

Thier service uniform really isnt that bad its when they take off the coat and that ugly blue shows and trust me every soldier ive talked to hates the guy who made the decision to go with the blue digital...
Evidently the marines patented that color on the pattern or so ive been told, and would not let them use it so they went blue. I think they were going for grey...i hope at least. Too much velcro too, they dont like that either. I guess the material tears easy as well.

Edit: A mug? Really? i guess its to be expected.

One of his buddies dared him to do it, or something like that.....He said when he sobered up, he was afraid to poop for 3 days.

Well I apologized for the "ASSUMEing" but as for the service stuff...

I never disrespected anyone..I got good friends who are in the Army and the Navy and as i SAID there is some damn fine soldiers and Sailors out there. My only negative remark was that there is not many of them our there. I have worked with them on multiple occasions and found this to be thier own perogative as well...

The Army has thier mission and we have ours. Ours is to take and break ground, thiers is to hold and continue on with the mission when we leave and are not needed. Time and time again we have always broke ground, turned it over to them, they lost ground, and we had to come back and take the ground again.

Now remember we Need the Army, Airforce, Navy,etc... The Marines arent superman and cant do everything on thier own, however we all know Whos' Who in the service rankings...Just take a public opinion poll, It is what it is. I would also like to say that throughout our service we have earned the right to boast...some of the things we did no one else would.

This does not diminish in any way shape or form the sacrifice our service men and women have and are making today! I'm just saying some of us are a lil' better at our jobs then others. No disrespect was ever intended.

You do realize that our boot camp is on par with your ranger school right? however some of those ODA boys are bad ass bro. We worked with a few in country and most of them are good to go.

Edit: You realize that Marines HAVE to give the other services crap right? Its just the way of things. And you have to admit history lays in our favor. we already have most of the aggressive natured individuals and crazy people out there. so naturally youre only going to see a pompous and prideful attitude. We all know that this leads to missing teeth(sometimes) but thats how the hill gets taken.
