Will a trd sport stock be fine off roading trails and what not, I only plan on off roading in it about 10-25% of my trucks life and nothing too too serious. Or am I going to want to put some mods into it?

    4wd?

YES, it will do just fine

2wd, in socal which doesnt see much mud or snow, u can do the less aggressive trails.

gauge the cost vs actual use/need when it comes to suspension. The prices vary substantially

Not 4wd drive but yeah don't plan on using it much snow or hard trails, what would be a reasonable suspension mod

A good set of all terrains will get you going. Many years ago I travelled all over the sierra's in a 2wd nissan with bfg a/t's.

Anything more is pretty much a waste of money I wouldnt buy another pickup unless it was 4wd

    Now that's funny......

Who owns a tacoma and hasn't put mods on it??

The truck will do just fine on its own. Because we don't know what type of conditions you'll be using it in and/or your offroad driving skills..... You're the only person who can truly determine if you'll need modification to improve its offroad capabilities. Get out there and get it dirty.... You'll see....

:D no one who spends time on here. I used mine stock for 4 years and performed beautifully. When the suspension started looking sad and performed poorly, I took to the internet for solutions. This place called Tacoma World kept dominating my searches, so I kept looking and reading and lookin and reading. Now this place just destroys my wallet.

No need to modify OP...but it sure is fun:D
