.243 is also a fantastic round.

Without getting overly technically in a 'show off yer guns' thread the ballistics of those two rounds are substantially better than the .308WIN. They shoot flatter at pretty much any distance and buck the wind better as well. This is especially true when you're dealing with cross winds and mixed winds of changing values in someplace with swirling winds like the Whittington Center in Raton, NM which is notorious for testing even the best of marksman. The top ten generally will be about 7/10 .260 and 3/10 6.5 and if anyone shooting .308 breaks into the top 15 it's noteworthy. I mean, keep in mind how long ago the .308WIN round was developed versus how advancements have been made on caliber technology even in the last decade. All these new SAAMI rounds are the result. If what you want is a 30cal rifle you can have an easier time walking into any gun store and buying ammo for then stick with .308WIN. If you are loading your own and want to have the best platform with which to test then go with one of the other two I listed. Components are components so if you're loading your own and don't care about having lots of off-the-shelf choices that's what I would suggest.

I've got pistol grip w/stock shotguns. I've got standard grip w/stock shotguns. I've had pistol grip w/o stock shotguns. Notice the difference in those three statements? There's a reason for that.

Here's my new long range Remington 700 in .243 winchester

And my most recent semi-auto rifle purchase. Arsenal SLR-106FR in 5.56 and it works great in my discrete tennis racket bag.

Here is my winchester model '94 manufacture date of 1914. This is the best picture I have of it at the moment, a friend of mine stole my hat and wanted the picture. Oh, and it looks like he has his finger on the trigger, but he really doesn't something happened with angles etc..., his finger is resting on the side of the lever behind the trigger

One of these days I'll take it out and get good pictures. I has vintage marbles sights on it (not a peep), though I am looking into finding a period correct peep. Shoots great, I was able to hit a 1x1 foot rock at about 125 yards with it and I am worthless win open sights, balances great and the recoil is almost non existent because of the weight (which helps with the balance)

I need to put it on a bench rest and see how it will really do, I'm thinking the best performance I'm gonna get from it will be with the new hornady ammo with the ballistic tip (anyone tried this stuff yet?)

Also, I'm going to be getting a letter from the Cody museum for it this summer (I hope), I inherited this rifle and would love to learn anything that happened to it in its life...I wish this gun could talk

    4aha6a3e_82707fbfe5f2cd996c50d8fee133a1aa4e1b27c0.jpg

And also, I don't know if I've post this or not, but my ithaca model 37, it is a pre disconnect so it slam fires and it reliably feeds the mini shells (if only I could find buckshot minis). I think that this gun is gonna be my victim when I do a short barrel project. This picture sucks, but it is the only one I have

It's a Rock Solid. Love how it feels and has just the right necessary options.

Hopefully I'll get to shoot it this week.

Can't argue with that. I just prefer to use more common calibers. My favorite round to shoot in general is 6.5 Grendel, but the brass isn't very easy to come by, so I stick primarily to the ol' .223 and .300.
Also have a 22-250, but will probably stay off that for a while until I can rebarrel for a heavier twist. The varmint stuff doesn't do much for me.

Like I said, if you're buying off-the-shelf ammo, have only one rifle and want common then do .308 but if you're loading anyway you can resize .308 brass so other than projectiles the components to make rounds I mentioned are just as common. I have rifles for all the regular 'common' calibers as well as some of the more 'exotic' calibers mentioned so I have all of my bases covered.

Looks similar to an Eberlestock, but........ not sure. The lines are a little less refined.

Sick rifle. If I wasn't saving up for an SDN-6 and some NODs I would be all about a bolt gun right now.

Thanks. It was either this or a McRee folding stock and I just liked the looks of the Rock Solid better, plus their is a folding mechanism coming soon.

Wish the color was a little more Magpul FDE but that can always be changed with cerakote.

Here's their FB page since they're still working on a website. Next up is a 5-20ish scope and a suppressor, probably be next winter for both of those.:D
