Just noticed today that my left Daytime Running Light is not working at all (burnt out). You can see that the faulty DRL is "burnt/melted".

I know that DRL lens melting/cracking is a common issue on the 2nd gens. However, I couldn't find anybody on the forums mentioning DRL's ceasing to function.

Truck has ~42,000 miles and was bought new back in '08, so obviously, the warranty has expired.

    My main questions here are:
Can I fix this by myself at home?
    How much do repairs cost?

    Any help would be appreciated.

It's like a $2.00 bulb at Vatozone. Extremely easy to replace.

Edit: Because I'm feeling helpful today I looked up the part for you. Looks like they're sold in pairs. You should probably replace them both.

If you get 3057A, it will not generate as much heat, hence alleviating even more lens melting. I run these in mine. The appearance is the same. Have had zero issue in the year+ that I've had them.

Good stuff here. Wish I had replaced my stock bulbs long ago.

Watch them carefully, there's less than 2 watts difference in the spec for the 3057 vs 4157.

Will do, thanks. I've ran these for over a year with no problem, but that was with aftermarket housings. I just recently went back to stock, so I am definitely keeping my eye on them. I hate that this is such an issue with these trucks.
