Same thing we discussed before... how your local linex shop is ass-raping its customers. I got mine coated for $250, and with a lifetime guaranty I don't figure I'll ever need spend another dime.

I know they're screwing me with the price, which is why I won't give them my business. This summer I'll sand down the rusty spots and chips, give them a good coat (probably try a different bed liner) and see what happens. I'm probably the only guy worried about keeping his sliders looking nice anyways

Exactly why it's smart to replace the front ones first. If you feel down the road you want the rear speakers, then do it..otherwise you didn't spend needlessly.

The speakers that come in our trucks are a joke and not even a good joke at that.

Even those are light years ahead of this. I have the 6.5's that came out of mine in the garage, they are so light it's not even funny. I've seen speakers on a child's record player better built.

Lots of guys dont run rear speakers. If you run 6.5 as subs, it will work, you will have good midbass but a 6.5 generally cant hit the same frequency as a normal sub (10-12). This set up would work much better if you used a seperate amp for the door speakers.

The headunits dont produce enough power to really get the most out of speakers. I noticed a huge difference from running my headunit to a 4channel amp on the same speakers.

I dont have rears and it sounds good. I still think i am going to add them tho. And for subs in the door, it could work. You need a sealed box with enough volume so it would be tricky, and it would need to be secured to the door frame so it wouldnt rattle all over the place. Speaking of subs someone on the site decided to use my idea for the hidden sub box under the access cab seats, he did a good job, its in this guys gallery http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...ftermarket-hu-oem-camera-speaker-install.html

I haz stock speakers. They get the job done. Are they great, no. Do they vibrate at various frequencies thus creating sounds, yes

Rears in the doors sound different because of the way they are faced in no small part. It is the same thing as my old (3rd gen) Camaro where the rears faced towards the middle of the car.

The cost of doing business is very different from one location to another. This translates into significant cost differences at different locations. It may be worth traveling a great distance to get a better price, but transportation and time are also not free.

I would be more concerned about the individual shop doing a great job. This stuff is not easy to remove.

Understood, but you can't honestly tell me that when 2 shops have the same material costs one can be double the overall cost for a given project and not be price gouging? I'd be willing to bet that painting side steps or small parts is a PITA so they priced themselves out of the market. Wouldn't be the first time a business has done that and it's their right to do so but I, the customer, don't necessarily have to be happy about it either.

Not that it's "right", but perhaps they are either new to it or just put money into the machinery and are trying to recoup the cost faster..as well as your guess too.

They're charging whatever the market will bear...

They're not operating in a monopoly market. Line-X franchises are everywhere. If I owned the shop, I would be trying to figure out how to make the maximum amount of money on everything that I sell. If you charge too much, you can't keep your bays full and your employees are sitting on their hands. If you charge too little, your bottom line suffers and customers will actually go to a more expensive shop because your waiting list is too long. Capitalism rules!

The shop in my area has been well established for a long time, and I'm pretty sure they've paid off the booth and the equipment a long time ago. That, combined with keeping people coming in to keep the work up as you said apparently has their pricing substantially lower than down in your neck of the woods.

Which location did you go to? Did you try other spray on bedliner manufacturers? I honestly have no idea how they are going to hold up, seeing as I've gone wheeling once with them and I was a poontang while dong so.

Marlboro I think. It was Marlboro or Middleboro, can't remember which one I called, I threw away the number after I got their quote

Honestly, I'm not too concerned about it. The rattle can method will hold up just fine, just need to find a rattle can bed liner than doesn't chip as easily.

Don't waste your money on the duplicolor rattle can bed liner . I used it on my front skid and if just collects dirt and is now poop brown . Doesn't spray good either . I ended up doing the other 2 skids with primer and high temp engine paint . Came out very nice . Will be alot easier to touch up then the bed liner .
