i am about to buy DTLT headers and the pipe bomb y pipe. I have been trying to figure out if i will pass emissions with that set up. I know if i do go with this set up i will be running no cats at all, but in MD all they do for your emissions test is hook your truck up to a computer and see whats going on. I think if i buy the URD o2 sim i will be good to go, Unless anyone knows otherwise

The slight backpressure created by the cats helps exhaust gas scavenging from the combustion chamber. Cutting them out will not help your performance in any noticeable way, except at really high rpms. Aside from the fact that the cats help emissions and the environment (no hippie crap intended). Get a good cat back and leave the cats.

I have flowmaster 40's, but im looking to gain alittle performance through the DTLT headers and better sound with the y pipe

only 2% of the c02 in the earths atmosphere is produced by humans! The rest is produced by wildfires and volcanoes. CATs are just there to keep the liberals happy!:crapstorm:

Actually, cats turn other hazardous componds in to CO2, Nitrogen and oxygen. They help cut down on NOx, CO and HC.

Or it could be a small attempt at slowing our impact on the environment.

Hate to refocus this thread away from the ecological save-the-world-one-exhaust-at-a-time debate, but most any non national chain muffler shop will do whatever you want them to do, laws be damned. In states where emissions are tested, you could keep the cats in place but have a bypass and valve installed. You'd just have to route the exhaust through the cats every year before you go to get inspected. Kinda involved for gaining a throatier sound, but certainly doable.

Or India, or Pakistan. We can't force them all to help out.

here in canada my local muffler shop actually suggested i removed my cat (98 blazer) and weld in a piece of pipe instead of replacing it, on top of that i passed a government inspection without a cat.

Anyone have some pics of what you did ?
Right in front of the cat where the two pipes join, I have a bit of separation.... Local muffler shop quoted me something like $1k because the Toyota part was so expensive...
I told the guy ..... "never mind.. I will just cut it off and replace it with a straight tube !! " - His comment... "That is what I would do if it were mine" :)

So now I am in search for the part and have been struggling to find it.
    I have a 2002 Extended Cab v6.

This the closest I can find
    https://www.amazon.com/Walker-53398...2---3993------&vehicleName=2002+Toyota+Tacoma

but I don't need the sensor .. I need to part in front of this. I wonder if I should just measure... find some 2.5" pipe and weld it myself ???
    Can't believe this part doesn't exist !!

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G3A42FY/ref=psdc_15726741_t2_B000VL1PAW

I would rather just have a straight pipe... That that would sound awesome !
