Must have been one hell of a snake. But I have seen pics of road rash very similar to that one, so it's an understandable mistake.

Oh, and I did pay $400 for the boots, but I've had them for 9 years/50,000 miles, so that comes to about $0.12 a day, or less than $0.01 per mile - a real bargain, for that level of protection, wouldn't you say? Of course,that doesn't factor in the $100 I paid to have them re-soled awhile back...

 

the gear is def worth the cost. i rode with over 1000$ worth of gear and survived being rear ended by a minivan this past july. then going through his windshield, and rolling onto the pavement when he slammed on his brakes. without the grear, ( gauntlets, boots, jacket , full helmet) i would have been dead. a medivac was immediately called due to severity of accident and i wasn't supposed to be able to talk to first responders, but i came to and luckily only had lower extremity injuries
