What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

yea..kinda sucks.

Some more reading showed that maybe the " 8'' " Land cruiser one is supposed to be similar??

ill probably just shoot Aussie an Email. Seems like its a better product form a few reviews and other stuff i have been reading.

 

anybody got the stock 1st gen bottle jack equipment they'd like to get rid of? i don't need the jack itself... just the handle and extension stuff

 

its an improved lockrite in short. Same guy even that helped start lockrite now is at aussie.

has different springs in it and few other small details.

 

I have a friend with a lockrite and I have an Aussie in my Cruiser. Like Monte mentioned they are almost exactly the same design with the exception of some small details and better springs/pins. Just some side by side comparison with my buddy's truck with the lockrite, the Aussie is much smoother at unlocking in tight turns and when it locks up there is less of a jolt/clunk than the lockrite. Neither one is extreme but with my Aussie locker the behavior is so smooth that you really can't tell you have an auto locker in the diff until you need it and it locks up just like you want and you walk through obstacles.

The behavior was a big deal to me because my Cruiser was my wife's daily driver and I didn't want anything weird with the locker if she was driving it, especially in the winter. She says she couldn't tell the difference after the locker was installed. Exactly what I'd hoped for.

 

I bought me one of those LED tailgate light bars yesterday should be here by monday so ill post pics after its installed

How loud is your Adam?? Like when it's open

 

Going straight you never hear it. It will ratchet on tight turns but it's not super loud. I don't recall any noise when it locks up. On occasion you'll hear a slight *ping* when it unlocks but usually only if there's still some load on the axle.

When it's fully open or locked it's completely quiet. Just ratchets in turns

 

Only tight turns?? Okay I can live with that

 

Also i HATE lockright. i'll never order one again. i went through 2 of them before deciding to put an elocker in.

yep. and about a year and a half ago they were bought by another company and they wouldn't warranty the second one after that one broke, even though it was within the 6 month period of purchase.

 

Well that sucks.
