It was tight but plenty of room. The tightest place I found in Moab so far was in one spot on 7 mile down by Merrimac Bute.

Its on that flat spot between Merrimac and Monitor just before you go up the crazy off camber slick rock section.

Yep right before that section behind ur truck. There is a big ass Rock between a cliff. It would seem from the black marks that everyone goes around it But I had to see if the Yota would fit.:D:D....and those ledges are a joke but I could see how ATV's would have an issue.

no more water in the snorkel on big storms...finally got a nice fitting coupler to get the donaldson to fit better..

    spectre 4" to 3.5"

this \/ could have been avoided driving through the recent snow storm last week if i had just put my pre cleaner on
    [IMG]

snow built up so much in the snorkel that water started to pool up in the tubing, soaking my maf and really messing with my engine..had to stop a few times to dry things out

Hey Bob, n00b question for you. I thought you could turn the snorkel intake around, aiming it toward the back of the vehicle, during heavy snow/rain to avoid taking in the water and slush. Thoughts?

And what is the precleaner you mentioned all about?

Oh, and subbed  nice truck :)

manufacture has a warning not to turn around backwards at highway speeds for the risk of creating a vacuum

talked with a guy at cruise last week who is a multi-day racer in australia and a product developer for an off-road company who says i'd be fine flipping it around

so idk...but i had bought the donaldson a while back but never had a good way to mount it on there...the prefilter was too large to fit snug on the snorkel tube

saw someone else using a coupler to make a nice connection and finally found one that fits both ends snug

Should l put my air ram on backwards to stop water and other contaminates from entering the airbox?
Yes you can, if your concerned about wash from a river crossing. It is not recommended that you run your vehicle above 25km/h with the air ram on backwards, as it causes damage to your vehicle.

    Deflections may be caused by:
1-Air Ram situated in close proximity to the bonnet/hood of the vehicle,
2- Air Ram with a curved or foiled roof,
3- Turning Air Ram away from travel direction,
4-Where Air Ram design makes the air go back on itself at an angle greater than 100 degrees.
If the Air Ram is turned away from the direction of travel, it will lessen the necessary positive pressure. In extreme situations, at higher speed, a vacuum may be generated causing irreversible engine damage! Incorrect Air Ram design may cause excessive induction noise, lack of separation and air blocking by vortex at various speeds. This air blocking will limit airflow. This is a common occurrence when “looks” take priority over functionality. If the Air Ram is moulded on the body of the snorkel (for aesthetic reasons) it does not provide particle separation, thus all contaminants need to be removed by the internal air filter. This increases the maintenance cycle of the air cleaner. Furthermore, this configuration may cause a vacuum into the snorkel, thus increasing the risk of engine damage.

Thanks for the info. So the precleaner/filter you mentioned is the Donaldson contraption?
