Either 883 or 885. Any recommendations? Any idea what type of rake the 883s would create with the Dakars in the rear?

i'll let the OME god speak to it, but IIRC 883s arent made for the 05+. i'd go w/ the 885s if you dont plan on adding any significant weight to the front.

I'd like to get 2-3", preferably on the smaller end. I would like to try to avoid the need for UCAs if at all possible. I'm not looking to go crazy on tire size or anything like that.

Not planning to add any significant wait. Maybe a light bar one day but that's it.

    This

and Dakars will lift the rear 2 1/2 - 2 3/4" so essentially you would increase the factory rake by 1/2" - 3/4"

Why not the 885? Would that give him about 1/2 rake once they settle and a sturdy ride, but nowhere near as stiff as the 886?

because he said he wants 2" of lift , doesn't want to have to get UCA's and the new " x " coils don't settle

How much do the dakars settle over time? Like 1/4" per year or something like that?

    Yep.
my vote is for 885x.. in your case you could ditch the top spacer.

Depends on how you load them

I carry 400-450lbs at all times between my commercial cap and tools , my Dakars squatted just about 1" over about a year with that load , but if I take out the tools , approx 250 lbs , they rebound to the height they were when I installed them

I was under the impression the 885 and 886 were designed for 2", also that every new spring "settles" just a bit. I am painfully aware the difference in the new "X" springs, but for the sake of this conversation lets call that "sag", which IMO takes the lift below 2".

I got 2 1/2" of lift on my DCLB 4x4 with 885x coils , no top plate spacer , hasn't settled at all in over 2 years

I'm apeshit they didn't send me the 886x's  I really coulda used an excuse to justify new UCAs to the wife. And I'm not digging on the rake at all.

I'll add some stuff on my truck. My set up is 885x's with plate bumper and winch. Before I got my lift I read a ton about the addition of a bumper and winch, and what coils to go with. Everyone says 886, which to gain about 3" with bumper and winch is what you need. My worry about going that route, was it was going to be a few months of lift with no bumper, and I wasnt pumped about it riding super rough. In my case, I wasnt worried about getting the full 3" to clear tires because I plan on only running 265s. I was worried about spring rate though, and it being too squishy, both on the street and offroad with the addition of the weight. After a few weeks of running this setup, and some mild offroading, I can say I notice it is squishy. Its not bad though, definitely not "I need to change immediately" I can say though, now that I have LR ucas with proper caster, there is no way you could clear 285s, without serious cutting anyways. Without measuring(which I will try to remember to do tonight) I am going to say I lost about 3/4"-1" with the bumper and winch. My rear set up is stock TSB pack with the deaver 1.5" AAL. With my shell, before the plate bumper, the truck sat dead level, which I dont like. Its a truck, and when it's loaded with gear or dogs, it shouldn't sit bro'd out. Now with the weight it sits with about a 1" rake. Perfect! I sometimes have crazy ideas of putting 285s under it, in that case, I'll go the 886/dakar route. Hopefully this helps someone in some decisions. Now for pics!

This with dogs and my recovery gear. 200ish pounds. Parked slightly nose high.

Hard to tell because its parked on a slant, but this is the same load.
