My staying awake tactics include Benadryl to get some solid sleep. Coffee on the way into work and keeping busy...I only get tired when I'm not doing anything

Staying awake isn't hard when you work in the ghetto. Every time I have to call PD they take 1hr+ to respond and when they finally arrive the officer always tells me he's not going in there (the property) without backup... Which is never available. So its me and my partner, and an entire community who would love to see us dead. Staying alert isn't an option, its a requirement.

On slow nights, we find ways to amuse ourselves. One example: 2 white guys working in the super ghetto full of young drug dealing/addict gang member thug type African American people.... Partner decides that buying a pair of yellow handcuffs and putting a 'Chiquita' banana sticker on them, and then use them on the first idiot who we catch doing something wrong...... Now THAT is some funny ass shit! The more fun shift is, the easier it is to stay focused.
