Had a moron on Tundrasolutions that couldn't be happy with a small pic and the generous character limit given.
Ended up with two HUGE images... his sig was a full screen if you were running 1024x768.

 

I avg between 18 and 19 MPG on the highway @ 70 mph.. that's with 275/65/18 tires and less than 3" of lift. @ 60-65 mph i can probably get 20 mpg. Stop and go is probably closer to 16 MPG

 

I've only been checking mine since I had the TRD SC installed. Usually, I don't ever check it but I heard so many conflicting stories about the SC lowering MPG that I checked the last 2 fill ups and I was shocked at how well it did. Most all of my driving is in town with 1 stretch of road, about 4 miles or so, where the MPH gets up to 50MPH. The MPH range is school zone 20 thru 50MPH. The first tank I actually dried to get good MPG. Never drove much, if at all, over the speed limit and I was shocked when I got 19.93MPG. Then I decided to see what I'd get if I drove more of my normal style in town. I was even more shocked when it calculated out at 19.95MPG.

Since the Supercharger install, depending on which place I fill up, I've only been using Ethanol free 90 or 91 octane fuel.

I'm interested to see what it does with ONLY freeway driving. I doubt that it will be much better. I'm thinking maybe 21ish and I'm sure that will largely depend on MPH.

 

The last time I checked it was between 19-21 I don't go around checking my mpg all the time. It helps if you clean the Throttle body valve with carb cleaner and maf sensor with maf cleaner, don't touch the actual sensor at all though or you'll be buying a new one ....urrrggg

 

So far before I fill up later, 302 miles. Just under 1/8th tank left I. The gauge, and there's been a few wfo sessions to pass an asshole semi truck driver that pull out i front me while I was doin 60!!!, and some other heavy foot driving, ill see what I get this tank in a few hours

 

Last tank on my '10 DC OR 6 speed was 18.33! (No lift, 265/75-16's)

That was being very easy on the shifts. 1500 to 1800 rpm. I'm pretty happy with that.

 

I'm getting about 15.5 lately

 

Recent spark plug change and non ethanol 91oct gas landed me 23.4 on a 300mile trip this week. That including some 4x4, dirt roads, and in town miles. This in on the 4.0 V6.

Adding 10lbs of pressure to each tire at the end of the winter season probably helped to....

 

Light foot mod is definitely the best...the onl;y one that truly works. That and keeping the tires aired up beyond the 32psi. Keeping the RPMs down does wonders, not quite as exciting, but definitely pays at the pump.

 

I have a 13' DC with the 4.0L and I can't seem to get better then 14. I drive a few miles to and from work, city and then some backroads 55mph-60mph two days a week 15 miles or so round trip each day. I don't have a heavy foot, I live in Colorado and Im running 87. I have a little less then 1k miles on her. Any thoughts?

 

2nd tank in Baja - 20.5, back and worth to work, mostly hwy but lots of traffic at times, just broke the 500 mile mark.

It will improve as the truck breaks in, but the short trips and back roads are killing you.

I'll pull 24-26 on my highway drives to and from work. 350 miles over 4 days. ONE day, 50-60 miles shopping locally with my wife will pull that 24-26 down to a 22-23.

 

I don't know. 12 miles dirt road each way to work and have been getting 20 mpg since day one. It's an AT, living at 6800 feet and I'm on my fourth tank. I'm trying a tankful now only driving highway to see what happens. I'd be concerned at 14 mpg.

 

2000ft difference in elevation.
My motorcycle gets around 32 here in SoCal.
It gets 50+ in the mountains of Utah.

 

I've spent quite a bit of time searching before I flat out called bullshit on this one. It was quite an interesting journey. The best some opinions could come up with was less air resistance as it "seemed" their vehicles got better gas mileage. Common sense says there is less O2 thus your engine is going to lose power.

You're comparing driving in the world's largest parking lot with long, long expanses of little to no traffic delays in Utah.

I live at 6800 feet and work at 7500 feet. There is no level road on my drive. By your reasoning I'd get 30+ mpg if I worked at 10,000 feet.

14 mpg on a stock Taco ain't right unless you're driving/idling in Los Angeles county or you're doing the same thing on I25 or Belmont or Santa Fe Drive or 47...

Less O2 = Less fuel and yes, less power.

Carb'd engines did not react the same way, they would end up running slobbering rich at high altitudes and needed to be rejetted for people that lived at those elevations.

EFI system compensate by leaning out the mixture.

And yes, there is a power loss.

 

I get no better than high 20s at sea level, but mid 30s at front range altitude, driving 55-60.

It doesn't seem like I get 35 mpg, it's real.

Why people think making less power doesn't mean less gas is the mystery?

I hope it improves as it breaks in. I think I may go back to the dealer and do some questioning. I had a 2000 F250 7.3 that got better. I traded it in to get the yota cause I wasn't using the truck to its capabilities so I thought I would downsize but with this mileage I would have kept the Diesel. Thanks for all your info

 

I'm a little fuzzy how people seem to be pulling off incredible milage. Just bought a 2013 4dr tacoma AT and I've put on 1k miles. Im at sea level and im driving like a granny. If i break 17mpg its worth celabrating about. I can't tell if its me or the truck. Should i be worried?
