I loved mine from the day that I bought it. Other than the 30k+ I had to shell out for it for a mid sized truck it does everything that I would like for it to do. Rides and drives great. Gets decent mileage (22-23 mpg regular but I do tend to drive like a grandpaw and take the back roads going to work so it rarely gets over 45-50 mph). My literal only complaint is the chirping noise coming from the blower motor on low and medium settings but I just haven't gotten around to taking it apart to re-grease it so that is a easy fix I'm just being lazy.

Plus my 7 year old daughter has such a emotional attachment to it I could never get rid of it if i wanted too. She has even named it "Bear" and hell I've even started calling him bear so I guess I have a pretty strong emotion attraction to him also. Add to that all the money I have invested in aftermarket shit and I could never get my money back.

    But Goddamn he looks good

I find it funny how we seem to get emotionally attached to inanimate objects, such as our trucks. It's almost like they become part of the family. I know, personally speaking, I am VERY attached to my truck. I get bugged all the time, cause I sometimes treat my truck better then my wife. I admit, I do, she knows how much I love my truck, so she doesn't mind. I know she loves my truck as much as I do. Especially when she takes it out for a quick spin, and it comes back an hour later, covered in 3" of mud. The only thing she had to say was "I had to see what it could do"! She had that grin on her face, from ear to ear for almost the entire day.

I have a 2004 Tacoma, I voted option 2 but it's kind of a combination of I LOVE MY TACOMA and There are some things I would change.
The seats SUCK! compaired to the 05 and up trucks, so I got me a set of 09 seats:)
I would like to upgrade and get a new Tacoma but I like not having a truck payment and I can't afford it at the moment.
It's a lot of fun to drive and I never get tired of it, nothing fourbi's like a Tacoma and every other truck that tries to keep up can't or gets stuck! :)
I don't mind pulling them out when they ask for help.

Love the old 2003 Tacoma Base 2.4L. 5 speed MY commuter/beater. But I think there was an issue with the head on the engine. Dealer took me for approx $3000 for rebuild. They claim that the valves were hammered to no more adjustment left.
I have heard of that before. Sometimes squeaky clutch.
    Had to add a Tacometer.

The new 2012 Tacoma 5 Speed sucks engaging. Too soft of a clutch, and requires higher RPM to prevent stalling.

If I want my Tacoma to change, I just buy it stuff.

Do that to a girl, and she gets fat.

Therefore I can safely conclude Tacomas ftw.

I traded in a sports car on a whim because I was a little bored but you don't realize what you have until it is gone. I would be very happy with the taco if I want missing the car I traded it in for but looking back I would keep the car and buy a cheap generation 1.

My first truck (2006 DCSB) and I love it; after 50k miles all I needed to service was the driveshft and brake pads. I only wish it came with a sunroof/moonroof.

Lets see, where to begin... ;)
I traded in my 2002 BMW X5 for a 2013 TRD quadcab LB 4x4. Ive always wanted a "new" Tacoma. I had a 96 Taco 4x4 standard cab many years ago when I was a teenager.

Coming from a BMW SUV, I guess I got a bit spoiled. The beemer has incredible power down low and on demand in any gear. It would pull hard without even upshifting. And if it did upshift, it would pin you back. This was a 3.0 inline 6 by the way... About 220 hp on a good day; it was the gearing that made it so peppy. SO many awesome features on the X5 that I took for granted: comfortable leather buckets, full power sunroof, power windows that fully rolled up and down without holding the switches at all four windows, memory power seats, rain sensing wipers, mpg gauge, very strong brakes, and just an all around solid feel. Granted, it had its list of issues such as very poor gas mileage, oil leaks, brake light issues, window regulator issues, lower control arm issues, and it ate brake rotors and pads for dinner.

Now that I have the Taco, Im really loving it. BUT, there are a few things that bother me. Allow me to list them out:
    • I sit somewhat high in the seat and I have to lean down to look up at the traffic light (I'm 6'3").
    • The stock windshield wipers are terrible
    • No locking fuel door
    • midrange power curve is kinda weird... sometimes starts to lose speed on gentle inclines until I start pushing the pedal further and further and then upshifts (or comes out of torque converter lockup). I found this surprising since the truck has more HP and torque than my beemer.
    • The engine is loud, not the exhaust, but the sound from under the hood... it sounds almost like a 4 cylinder when revving.
    • Open center console with no storage dividers or anything... just a hole
    • The front seats have a hard spot at my lower back, almost like a bar going across that hits my tailbone.
Other than that, Im really digging the truck. Its a utilitarian dream vehicle that I knew I wanted and am glad I purchased. Oh and when I DO get into the throttle, it has GREAT acceleration and torque. I think it accelerates just as fast as the X5 did, but it requires more pedal to do so.

The only thing I can think of I would like that icant mod myself is better gas mileage, but if I got 50 mpg I think id still want more. And a diesel ofcourse.

Just kidding:laugh:. I've honestly never really been a fan of sunroofs or convertibles. I've owned one convertible (Mustang 5.0 GT) and I just never really liked it. I just like the enclosed feeling I guess because most of my cars have had sunroofs but I never used them.

I'm so glad my latest addition doesn't have one!

I've had my 2011 for 8 months now, and have only put about 5500 miles on it. I like the midsize truck...looked hard at a 2011 Ranger...600 miles on it and about 6k less than the Tacoma. But it was too damn small. I really like the Taco, but there are a few things I would have done different:

Weak suspension...I know that the newer models have a better suspension, and I know that there is a TSB, but I'm out of warranty

Drum brakes...I mean we're in the 21st century now...let's do a little better Toyota

The radio is a little outdated...again, I know that the newer truck have an upgraded radio, but I would have thought that a USB plug, and touchscreens would have been standard in 2011.

Other than that I really like the Tacoma.

Drums are more than enough for the rear. They have a very small amount of braking load, they are low maintenance and cheaper to manufacture. Also most Toyotas with rear discs have a drum inside and they are crazy expensive to replace and a pain to work on.
Rear discs would raise truck prices and raise maintenance prices but wouldn't offer any better performance.

Month and a half, just crossed the 1K mark. So far my only gripe is not having the automatic door locks. That's a really small matter, I just need to remember to throw the switch when I get in. Liking it so much the Jeep's been in the driveway ever since.

I'm on my 4th tacoma. 1st one was a 02 prerunner, sold it. Picked up a 06 trd 4x4. Loved it and sold it when my son was born be caused I was worried about expenses and my child. Picked up a 97 ext cab 4x4, great little truck but no room for my son, so I sold it. I just picked up a 09 trd 4x4 with a pro comp lift and 35s. And I freaking love it!!!
