'05 Taco lock/unlock issues here. They're intermittent and random, so it's been hard to pinpoint an issue or particular sequence of events. AT first I thought it was my keyless FOB. It's been very hard to lock/unlock my taco with the keyless (especially hard to unlock). I replaced the battery, but that didn't fix the issue. Took it apart and cleaned it out best I could. I've ordered two new FOBs, but having programming issues with those (separate issue, not for this forum/thread).

As I said, the problems are so sporadic it's hard to say. On one day, my keyless will lock and unlock like a champ. Most days, it will only lock but not unlock. Sometimes it won't lock NOR unlock. I'll use my key, open the door, get inside, shut the door, try the keyless lock, and the truck will lock. I try the keyless unlock, nothing. But also I'll try the door panel unlock and I get nothing. If I open the door and then press the door panel unlock, it unlocks. Weird stuff like this.

Are there known lock/unlock issues for '05s down the road? I"m hoping it's the FOB and not something internal-computer related..

Sounds like a possible wiring issue. I would check the wiring that runs from the body to the door. I've seen many times where is you wiggle the harness between the door and body you can get the broken wiring to connect and it will work.

I'll try jiggling and seeing what happens. However, let's say it is wiring/the harness. What're we talkin here, the whole harness, and if so would that entail taking the door apart and some of the body?

No most likely it's just a broken wire in the pass thru tube in the door jamb. So if the wiggling fixes it then you will just need to find the broken wire and splice it back together.

Sorry for the late reply guys, internet issues (but I now have high speed here, heck yes!)

Anyway, great news. First, I tried jiggling the cable bundle but that yielded no new results. I was getting disheartened, thinking a wiring job or worse was gonna be due. Yesterday, my replacement FOBs (replacements for my replacements, because the first two I got didn't work) came in. I programmed them, tested them, and they work just fine. As of typing this, my keyless works great. Now, I'm hoping this fixes the issue, but I'm hesitant to be 100% cathartic because the initial problem was intermittent (one day it works, the next day not, sometimes within hours/minutes/etc). So, if I have any further issues, I'll be posting back here again. But for now, all is well in my keyless Taco world.
