    Just finished installing my Airflow snorkel today on my 2006. Started yesterday evening but needed to get some replacement clips from toyota this morning to finish her up.
    Took a little courage (I lied.... A LOT of courage) to drill that massive hole in my truck :eek:. But it's done now and Im pretty happy with it. :yay:

    If anyone is thinking about putting one of these on I would definitely recommend doing so. But make sure you are 100% committed because it isn't something that can just come off. lol

    Its gonna go great with my bumpers and roof rack!

    Is that one made specifically for a Tacoma or is it like the Safari one that was made for a Hilux but has a fit kit made for a Tacoma?

    How is it routed into the air box? We need more pictures :D

    yeah it is not a small hole by any means. The sound it makes as it drills through your fender is priceless :/ haha

    The airflow snorkel is molded specifically and only for the 2nd gen tacoma. it fits flush.

    It connects to the stock airbox with an elbow joint. Its hard to see because it is all hidden under the inner guard and fender (which is a pain in the you know what to get off). But in the air box stock piece goes through that hole and connects to the elbow joint. That elbow joint is then connected to another piece that leads through the inside of the fender to the snorkel.

    Looks good man! I would be scared shitless to drill that hole:eek:.

    Out of curiosity, do you plan on taking it places that you would actually need a snorkel or is it more for better airflow into the engine? I realize that might sound like a stupid question so forgive me in advance. It would seem like there would have to be a lot of water proofing done to the electronics in the engine bay?

    Yeah it was a little nerve racking drilling the hole.

    With the snorkel I do not plan on going into any really deep water. To get it to be completely efficient in deep water you have to seal and waterproof all parts on the snorkel, all computers, and doors. And anyway im to scared to go through really deep water. I got the snorkel for a few different reasons.
    1. It will help with going through shallow water or puddles quickly
    2. My friend works for the company that imports these snorkels
    3. As you said above it brings in ambient air to the engine which is a plus
    4. Helps with low dust while wheeling in a group
    5. always wanted a snorkel, even when i had my first gen
    6. It looks badass! :D

    A lot of my friends have asked why I would ever put that ugly thing on my truck and how it's not going to do anything for me. Well my answer is "Its my truck and I do what I choose with it" haha. funny thing is most of them drive sedans...... :facepalm:

    Cool man... Thanks for the answers. I don't think I would ever "need" one (especially on a PreRunner lol) but you are correct... It does look Bad Ass! Good job on it!

    The snorkel was originally intended for dust, not water. Most desert trucks in australia come stock with them, and a good portion are made by vector, who makes the airflow snorkel that you see here. Water crossings are just a bonus. Pulling cleaner air is the intended purpose.

    This one is sweet because the skewp is large enough that the ram air design comes into play and you can actually push enough air to run a supercharger. No other snorkel that fits our trucks will let you do that.

    And OP to answer your question I am putting it on myself. The next few weeks my truck will see more blades than I'd normally allow, but this and a high clearance rear are a must.

    How high does the snorkel stick above the roof of the truck? I've been wanting this one, but have concerns about hitting the sprinkler system in my parkade haha.

    You can cut it down, thats what my plan is for mine. I had thought thwy were going to redesign it but I guess not. Its a bit high for some peoples taste, i just need it to be below my roof rack
