for what they do a solid block of aluminum would be less weight and stronger than a pocketed mild steel block

6 is drafting, 5 was math...they cut out arc welding completely and we spent 30min silver soldering..

lathe, mill, and tig for the last 2.5 months or so..kind of ironic that 70% of the content is over in a month.

when the course is shortened again in Oct, it should be on track...think we've spent about 2 weeks of "self study" so far, so the changes should keep it moving along.

    Oh boy...
    looks PERFECT!

nah blocks are fine, leaf packs are just better and stronger for off roading (more control at higher lifts like mine)

sweet! i didnt know something like that existed here...

That would be so sick! but do you have a solid block of cut-able aluminum

The thing with blocks is; the further away from the leaf pack you get the axle, the more torque the axle can put on the leaf pack. Things like axle wrap and axle hop. But with trucks, you are going to have a certain amount of either anyway. Up to 2" blocks you won't really feel any difference. Go bigger you may start to feel it.

I have 2" blocks and can't feel them. But I can see the increased wrap with my GoPro. About 1.5x to 2x as much twist. But that still isn't much.

Can see it in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1aq1IhZ2pI&feature=youtu.be

My 2" blocks are solid aluminum. I heard anything over 3" and cast steel isn't strong enough.

Would depend on the CFM. My clutch fan can produce upto 3000 CFM if I remember correctly. But more like 2000 at idle with a shroud. My two 12" efans put out 900 CFM each at full power (8 amps each?). So I have 1800 CFM max, but no shroud right now, so they are only drawing air through 2/3 of the radiator. Still enough to keep me at normal temps, but a shroud would bring them down a few degrees where I want it.

Flex-a-lite said my 12" fans should get a 10-20% increase in CFM with a properly spaced shroud. I was planning on spacing it 3/4" to 1". I can buy a premade aluminum one that would need some minor fitting for $90, or just grab some sheet metal and start burning one together and see what happens..

Most of the time I'm driving with the fans off. But in traffic I have to turn them on every now and then. I just watch my BullyDog and turn them on at 190. I also have an alarm that goes off if it reaches 200 and 210.

Simple mod I got done today. FJ TRD center cap on my stock off road rims. Easy way of freshening up the stock rims.

ok so here is my latest lift contemplation. Tomorrow im cranking my coilovers to max the passenger side (its getting ripped out in a week for a bigger coilover thanks to 4wp's fuck up)

k so the height i like for my truck would be roughly 30" from center of the hub to the bottom of the finder. thats what the hieght of my friends truck is and i love the stance. There will be no problem getting that high with my coilovers however i need to make sure i can get an allighnment afterwards.

The rear end has 2 add-a-leafs and im thinking instead of my 3 inch procomp block ill work with brandon and go to a 4 incher. but that will only bring the rear end up to 29". i cant go 5 without longer u bolts and after reviewing Nates video and his axle wrap im slightly worried about the 4 inch block but im on a budget.

my plan is to eventually go all leaf pack but im not sure on how expensive that will be to ship.because it will be a 9" leaf pack bringing me to 8 in the front and 9 in the rear.

OR only go up 1 inch and then sit level at 29-29 with new block. maybe thats what ill do haha

choices choices choices..... anyone have any friends with fatty leaf packs i can buy for under a G :D

here is my friends truck next to my jeep on kauai

Sorry if my video made your life harder.. You will probably only feel 4" blocks on the street if you really mash it. One of my friends had 3" blocks in her 06 and it rode fine. But we never took it off road..

Your friend's truck could be your twin! I thought it was your truck until I saw the wheels :D
