Colorado peeps... Got back from our trip over the weekend.

Question: Driving along Rte 36 just west of Kansas (between Kansas & Denver) - At night - Off in the distance, a hundred (or more) flashing red lights low to the ground and flashing in unison. These were together in a group.

We thought 'maybe' these lights were to scare off predators away from the cattle??? What the heck was it?

I would assume the 'windmills' you see around are to pump water up for the cattle?

Saw a lot of oil rigs/pumps and tan tanks/pipes - Are they actually pumping oil or is that also for water?

Those are windmills and part of a "wind farm"

they produce electricity

 

If its what I'm thinking of it is the FAA warning lights for the windmills. Basically to alert low flying pilots of an obstruction.

They were close to the ground. Looking towards them from the highway, they were almost level with the ground and hundreds of them in a small area (mile? couple miles? )

Got a hitch mount bike rack today. So much nicer than throwing a bike on my roof!!

 

Funny you say that .... Went to the Zac Brown concert and smelled it while waiting in line & inside the concert. Granted - not unusual for a concert but then we realized...Oh yeah, its legal here.
