2013 F150 EcoBoost

Yeah no regrets so far. There are at least 10 Ford dealers here within 50 miles of one another, it's not like each of them don't have 100 trucks on their lots at once either. Pretty much sit down and name your own price or walk, the next dealer's doors are open.

Only used the wipers a few times so far, but I can't feel anything in the pedal.

 

My dad has a 2012.

Those ecoboost engines have some serious power considering their size.

The trucks are super comfortable too.

Gotcha. The few Ford dealers around here rarely seem to get fX4s on the lot they mostly end up with STX's, XLTs, and Lariats. Hell the closest dealer has had Raptors there more than FX4s lol. So there's a good chance I would have been ordering or at least having them needing to swap with anther dealer.

 

Might be worthwhile to someone to make a trip to get a truck. They came off the sticker price 16.5k

Hit 7500 miles & first oil change, truck still running like a champ with 1 minor issue, the relay for the A/C took a shit and had to be replaced.

 

You are getting pretty good mpg for a truck of that size (600 miles on 27 gallons of fuel from a post months ago).

Good that the truck is still doing well.

Now wheres those mods at? wheres that switch panel?

 

Switch panel is still sitting in its box along with the wiring harness. I am dumping too much money in to my taco right now to do anything with it.

 

Since you've had this thing for coming up on a year now, any regrets and, would you buy it again or go with the 5.0L V8 (or something different altogether).

I don't think I would get anything else (full sized), I also don't think the 5.0 has the torque band that the EB does. With an 8k lb. trailer hooked to the hitch you can't even tell it's back there. I would also ask you to sit in the back if you think the Tundra's / Ram's / Silverado's back seats are bigger, obviously the cab is longer on said trucks but I have been surprised about the legroom in the back seat (I'm 6' 1" and have plenty of space). I've also "christened" the back seat and there was plenty of room to move around.

There is 1 downfall of the EB over the V8 though, that is the low hanging intercooler. I out sourced a company that makes an aftermarket relocation bracket for it, but you have to buy their intercooler for the kit and it runs about $800. As far as I know they are the only [reputable] company that makes the kit, I am waiting for a cheaper one to hit the market or waiting for a rock to hit the intercooler and bust a hole in it so I can replace it.

I have put the majority of the miles that are on it now, but my old man does drive it from time to time, which I don't mind as he treats it like a baby, and gets it detailed when he does drive it, and I've had only 1 minor problem (A/C relay..) and lots of trouble free miles.

All in all, it has 420 ft lb of torque, and can spin the tires in 3rd gear, and I get compliments on it all the time. I am not knocking the taco as it is still my DD and I don't think I will get rid of her but bang per buck ratio (for the price I got the truck at) you can't beat with a stick. I also get a monthly courtesy call from the dealer just to check in to see how I like the truck.

I miss Donna also, but she's in a better place now.

 

Thanks for the update! I'm looking for a full sized crew cab also which is why I asked. I test drove a 5.0L V8 last week and really liked the truck which got me thinking about the Ecoboost. I'm only considering Chevy and Ford myself and didn't think I'd like the Ford as much as I did. I might have your truck's twin in a little while...

 

You can prob get one cheaper than I paid right now, I bet there are still some 13s on some lots left. They came waaaay down off the sticker price and way below invoice. It might be worthwhile to do a little drive, you never know. If I could go back, I would get the 5.0 over the EB probably, but the one and only reason would be to mount a winch behind the lower vailiance (where the intercooler sits on the 3.5L) which you can't do with the EB. The 5.0 is about $3k cheaper than the 3.5L as well, just something to consider. I didn't think I would get back in to a taco, so I am quite happy with the EB now.

 

I'm likely looking used so I'm somewhat bound to what's in stock. It seems there are a lot more V8's vs Ecoboost F-150's coming back used. Unfortunately, I'm close to Boston so the prices are staying relatively high. I got close on one last Friday but the dealer sold it out from under me. I'll have to test drive an Ecoboost and see what I think. The winch location isn't really a concern for me, mine will be a pavement pounder. It's really too fun to punch it getting on the highway, there is no hesitation from when you hit the gas to going the speed limit
