I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I don't post for a weekend and now its a diesel argument.

From all my research into diesels I've learned that it is the most fanboy riddled market of any vehicles.

Ford, Chevy, and Dodge all have trucks better than one another but it just depends on the year/engine/transmission combo. If I were buying a 2012/2013, it'd be a gmc/chevy. The new duramax-allison combo is incredible. However it seems like 08/09-10, ford really had the market for power and reliability. And throughout all the years, dodge has just stayed pretty consistent with the cummins (gotta love that 6cyl). Never the strongest, but always reliable for the most part.

Haha, well it's not quite that cold down here - I haven't had winters like that since the midwest, but yeah.

I think what I really want is an 09 f-150 with the 5.0L coyote. Only 1mpg worse than the ecoboost without the high-tech and forced induction to break, way better mileage than the 6.2L although not quite as good towing.

engine is good. It does have sensor issues. From what I've heard from a co-worker, they still haven't fixed the knock sensor and o2 sensor issues.

I wanna say they use the same xfer case as the 03 body style did throughout the tahoe/silvy/avalanche line. Absolute piece of crap. I know of three people who had theres randomly shit the bed (including myself).

    The ford.

My uncle has an 07 silverado with less than 60k miles and the transmission has already been rebuilt. Right after that the fuel pump shit out on him leaving the parking lot of the stealership!

My first vehicle was a ford ranger. It had 36k miles on it when I bought it. I drove it for 10k miles before it slung a rod.

My brothers first car was a Ford Taurus. The trans threw 1st, 3rd, and 4th in the first 30k miles.

I've owned two F150's. The first slung a rod at 87k miles, and the second burned more oil then gas.

I've been through 6 Ford vans (work vehicles) in the past 15 years of laying carpet. Not my choice what we get for a work van BTW.

Any of you that know me well. I Meticulously maintain my vehicles, and always have.

Maybe it's just me that has had horrible luck with Fords? Either way, with my experience with them, I'll drive ANYTHING over a Ford.

All cars/trucks have their faults, I'm sure. Some years/setups are better then others.

You can't say BUY A FORD/CHEVY/DODGE in general. You're looking for specific Year/make/model/motor/tranny that is or was known to be a near problemless vehicle.

And finding one of those "great designed vehicles" isn't all that. Even if you find one, you won't know if it was maintained. If it wasn't, you're looking at just as many problems as anything else.

    /end soapbox

well between then and now (even 2007) a lot has changed in the car/truck industry and ever manufacture has flaws, just like Toyota (the gas pedal sticking). Yes that was the first major flaw that i have heard about since I have gotten into cars and learning about them. Just goes to show that not every manufacture is perfect.

Exactly, they all have their flaws. When I buy, I look for a vehicle known to have little to no common mechanical failures. One of the reasons that I'm buying Toyota's.

Unfortunately, Toyota doesn't make work vans (not here anyway). Nissan does now, but Oh Shit do they look stupid as hell. I'd love to be styling in a new Mercedes Sprinter, but the price tag is ridiculous.

Lulz, brand loyalty makes me lulz. Idgaf about it. Toyota has the tacoma, but it also has the tundra - no thanks. Honda had the older civics, but they also have ridgelines. Ford had the windstar, but they also have the new F-150's and tauruses. Chevy... has silverados and a whole lot of bullshit. I agree with caring about the specific model I'm looking at, I don't care whose badge is on it. Every manufacturer has shitty cars I don't want for one reason or another.

Oh and regarding Nissan - the only thing stopping me from a Titan is their horrendous gas mileage, and I seriously considered a frontier in midsize. Also, gt-r. The reason is gt-r.

Unrelated note, my buddy wanted to make me a "My nails are fabulous and my other car is a duramax diesel" sticker for the miata.

Obvious Chevy hater is obvious. Everyone has at least one brand that they have had terrible luck with, mine is obviously ford.

Every Chevy I've ever owned were good vehicles. So I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Chevy, dodge, ford, Honda, (obviously), or a Toyota. IMO the Ridgeline is a horrible excuse for a tuck. They are front wheel drive. WHY?????? :goingcrazy:

To be fair, they're AWD with FWD bias. Not that I like them, they're still shit. I bet they handle snow better than our trucks though. Well, the trucks the rest of us besides you have.
