In a couple of months or so I will be doing a trek from the east coast to the west. Looking to upgrade into Hawk Pads and some kind of slotted (not drilled ) rotor. What kind of pads and rotors are you guys running? looking to spend around $150 ish on this project

Links to slotted rotors are much appreciated

Nothing really specific. Just get new pads and rotors, if you even need new rotors. I'm not going to link anything. Using my phone.

Do you have any pulsing the pedel when braking? EBC also makes a nice ceramic pack.

Link ? I saw the Hawk LTS and PC pads ... I dont ever really tow so should PC work ? I dont want to get pads and find out I dont work them enough for proper use/feel

im not looking to stop faster , i ride through sandy trails/muddy trails and im looking for a slotted rotors that will wipe off the dirt/sand off the pad

no pulsing pedal but at 70K its preventative , i also get the pads and and roll through puddles ... sooooooooooooooo

lolz ... more than I have to spend

FWIW, I have had really good experiences with EBC Slotted& Dimpled rotors with Green, Yellow and Red Stuff pads. I did notice a pretty decent amount of increased initial bite and overall brake feeling with the Greens. It only gets better with the Yellow and Red, albeit at a cost of longevity and cleanliness of the pads. I say for the cost, the EBC setup is well worth the small investment.

For $150, you aren't going to get much of an upgrade... I went with Duralast ceramic brakes and Duralast blank rotors. They grab better than stock and seem to be wearing well (quiet also). Slotted rotors aren't really going to do much for you on a truck...

At freeway speeds, my steering wheel vibrates a lot when I apply the brakes. My truck has 48,000 miles on the original brakes. I think the rotors are warped. Looking to upgrade rather than resurface them. I'm thinking a resurface would just thin out the rotors and they would just quickly warp again. Any thoughts, advice & recommendations would be appreciated.

I don't 4-wheel. And I don't haul heavy loads or tow on a regular basis. This is my daily driver in stop & go traffic.

Although I've never worked on brakes, I think I can tackle the job myself following a TW write-up. I've heard it's a simple job. :notsure:

^They're warped. Mine are the same way and I know they're warped. I'm at 80K and the only thing I've done was change pads around like 37k. I'm getting some blanks at Autozone or the like and Hawk pads. I may also get some SS brake lines as they were a definite improvement on a previous vehicle. But who knows, it's a truck, no matter what we do it won't stop on a dime, especially with A/T tires.

I just replaced the fronts on my 06 Sport TRD. Had 86k miles still with pad that would run for at least another year, but I wanted to just get it done.

Put in Hawk LTS with Centric Premium Rotors; bled brakes lines. Bought them at AutoAnything.com
Don't forget to bed in your brakes after install.

The truck now has better brake performance over stock. The initial bite is better and a constant braking power. With stock I felt like I was needing to put more brake force longer, now I find that I slow down faster and ease off sooner before I reach the light.

Driven ~5000 miles so far no issues.

Yes WARPED. Yes you are better off replacing the rotors.

It's not a hard job to tackle. The pads swap out easily. The only heavy hammering I did was getting the stock rotor to come off the hub. Spray with WD-40, let it sit for 10mins; hit it with hammer.

Used brembo blanks and hawk or metal master pads for years on various vehicles with good results ..... check tirerack.com for those

I have just recently switched to the ebc stage 5 kit........ slotted/dimpled (not drilled), and yellow ebc pads.

Only been a couple weeks so I can't give the best review yet.....most performance pads require proper bedding, and shine after a few hundred miles or a few weeks.

I can say, initial bite is fine.....heated stopping is fine......dust is moderate (as stated in the ebc website, and u can always run a diff pad)...... no pulsing sensation in the pedal (some slotted do pulse).......

There is a slight bit of noise that's hard to define, and its common with slots......its a low tone, hardly noticable at all, and I belive its actually called (wind noise) or something to that effect......I can't even describe the sound, maybe there's a vid on youtube or something. Its just so quiet and sounds like......

Pretend ur gunna whistle......but don't actually whistle, just blow air SLOWLY through ur mouth. Yeah, try to describe that sound

The ebc setup I got from Marco at 4wp chula vista
