    Naval jelly is made by loctite. It's an acid that eats rust. You brush it on, let it sit, and then rinse it off. It works wonders on rust.

    I think I'm gonna just sand everything though

    It looks like it worked out well! I was going to pressure wash mine, them use Rustoleum paint/primer in one just to get the frame sealed up and one of those Eastwood products for the boxed section of the frame.

    A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
    Fuck all that noise trying to fight rust. Let the part rot (because this is NE and it will no matter what you do) and then replace it with shiny new! The frame is the sole area on these trucks that needs babysitting.

    No, that will quickly kill your frame. One of my co-workers lives in an area near the ocean and one of the areas that floods during hurricane (sea water) and his 2008 Tacoma looks much, much worse than your 2005 4Runner. He'll likely end up needing a new exhaust and brake lines within the next couple years.
