Eric came out again and we got some more work done. Clearanced for the crawlbox:

    20130511_153058_zpsd6366c96_e210d162f7d0b813aba026bbe9131361798d68ae.jpg

With the case in now I could determine the pinion angle. Since I will be using a 1-piece with a double cardan joint the pinion needs to point at the tcase output at ride height so we bolted up a set of roller to get a "ride height"

    20130511_185257_zps55e6d8da_3e17e8c58c5f8f1d0e108f395f1c6400e462d0e0.jpg

Used a string to get the angle right

Tacked the perches to the axle:

Now I can finish weld the perches and get my driveshaft length corrected!

Then we dragged out the front axle and dropped in the Spartan Locker :D

So far I really like the Spartan over the Lockright I had long ago. Its made of steel instead of pot-metal, and the pins are huge! This should work just fine :D

Decided to start messing with the spindles...

First one smooth as pie, old bearing and seal came out just fine.

Second one the needle bearing let go and they all came out. Then the lips on the races just cracked off trying to tap it out from the other side. Ended up grinding through the outer race and collapsing it in on itself to remove it.

Now one question...I am using spindle bearing eliminator bushings from ECGS. I was told it replaces the spindle bearing and the spindle bearing seal but heres a comparison:

    20130514_210751_zps0d1731f4_b92413441158b76ea2b91498e4500ae95b3738e3.jpg

Sure looks like I need the seal still just to fill the ccavity in the spindle, unless I only press the bushing in flush. Thoughts?

Got a few seals to get today and I can start assembling. One side worth of goods, double on some things.

And for a +1 can someone spot the secret upgrade to the axle that I havent mentioned yet :spy:

Good guess and looking back I dont think I mentioned the Yukon HardCore Locking Hubs yet either so you get the +1 anyways.

But...the other upgrade is laying right there on the table with the rest of the parts

Are you doing anything special with your hi-steer? I've been trying to come up with a game plan for putting a hi-steer setup in my 4Runner but after reading Pirate the last few hours, I feel more confused than when I started

Wish I could say my parts would include 1 ton gear, but sadly it won't. Can't wait to see the finished product.
