Moab is more sidewall safe than mountain trails. Not a lot of sharp pointy rocks/sticks to puncture sidewalls.

WishboneRunner. If I had your truck I would run the Duratracs at 15 psi. I don't know what your schedule is but if the Trifecta on Thursday is your first run, I'll keep an eye on it with you. You can always start higher if you're not comfortable going lower and then only drop the pressure if you're not getting the traction you need.

Yeah, that will be my first run, and the first time running them offroad, so not really sure where to start. I was more worried about pinching them than sharp rocks actually slicing the sidewall.

 

i would also say 15psi on a E rated duratrac would be a good starting point.

jace has E rated duratracs and the sidewall is definitely stiffer than my D's were

i may have to play with my pressure more this trip.

I ran 15psi last year on E rated Duratracs and did just fine. By the end of the trip they were down to 12psi and 1 at 10psi.

Ill have a co2 bottle on the trails. Another question. Does anybody know if Moab has a place where they. Can refill co2's ???

 

No CO2 place that I know of. But moab is an easy place to fill tires. CO2 can be handy on the trail if there is a flat or something but not necessary otherwise. All the trails are pretty close to town so there is no need to fill up the tires at the end of a run before heading back to town. It's a short drive, and you can fill up at a number a gas stations. Walker's on main street has a free air hook up outside.

 

true well for everybody that will be trailing with me if your not comfortable with the tire being too low you can ask me, ill be more then happy to put air on the tires when we're on the trails. for the peeps that dont have on board air

 

is that the maverik? I know the maverik on the road out from the exit of hells has free air as well.

the maverick on the south side of town no longer has free air... $.75 and the air didn't make it through 2 tires when we tried. FYI

 

That is available at one of the big 4x4 repair shops in Moab, however they charge an arm and a leg for it. But, if you need it you need it.

 

I ran my 33 10.50r15's at 12 just cuz they were skinny.

I have Viair 480C duals with a 2.3 gallon tank so i can help people fill up on trails that are with me or make a distress call.

Trail tip:
if you have a airl line to eaqualize tires you can use your spare tire as a storage tank and keep like 60 psi in it..

 

Just gotta install new OTREs and get an alignment and I am ready

 

or just swap the whole tire at once

 

Are you installing b/c they are bad, or preventative?

 

they arent bad he just wants a new front end and is saving all his spair stuff for trail spares though i have so much taco stuff if he breaks we may end up swaping him over on the trail just to pack more common parts.

 

I think the Chevron on the south side of town has free air too. Can't quite remember but we always seem to use that one, so I'm thinking it was free haha

 

I am getting giddy like a God damn school girl. Can't wait to give away some stuff in the raffle. Probably won't be as awesome as ARB or SExpeditions but It's still something. And I can't wait to wheel with those of you I know and to meet those of you I don't!
