Newbie here.. This I am sure has been asked but I couldnt find it in a seach.. I just bought a new 2013 Tacoma prerunner. It is the Texas Edition and came with 17 inch wheels and 265/65/17's.. I dont want to lift it at this point just get some new wheels.. What size am I looking for? 17/9 or 17/8. I dont want to tire to be stretched and basically drop the height or effect the ride..

    Thank you

17x8" would be the ideal size with the stock tires.

Widths up to 9" will work fine, but they will make your tires look more stretched.

You can run 265/70/17 without issues on the stock 17 size rim. Anything more will require trimming. And a Lift won't get rid of rub issues without additional work and/or parts anyways. Just did a bunch of research as I am getting the largest tire on the stock rim I can without issue. I have a 2013 trd sport though so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The factory wheels should be 17x7.5", but I don't know if the Texas Editions have different widths installed. I wouldn't think so, but I haven't got my hands on a 2013 Texas Edition wheel yet.

265/70R17 is the largest size you can use on a stock Tacoma with stock wheels without running into major issues. Going wider and taller on the stock wheels will result in rubbing on the suspension.
