Last year I went with just the wife and kids it was a good day. The way it work is you can register there it's $10.00. They give you a goodie bag full of shit and a full day beach pass. Last years turn out was pretty big (a ton of heeps). Some people decorate for the judging, but pretty much everyone runs in the parade that starts at 2:00. After the parade you get free run of the beach and everyone kind if broke off into groups and hung out on the beach.
At 8:00 they have a bon fire and they give out prizes. I didn't stay for that and I am not sure if I will make it for that this year either. Even if you do come down it 5 minutes from AC with plenty of good restaurants and hotels if you can't make it back up north. But I think it should be a good time the weather is looking good and it sounds like there are a few others going so it should be a good day to hang out on the beach.

 

other than this beach run… there seem to be season 4x4 permits avaliable to purchase…. have you been there any other time than the parade day? curious since i cant make it and had thought about going. cant find daily 4x4 permits to go check it out! and 160 might not be worth it…

Yeah 160 for the year isn't bad, but how often is the issue?

 

160 is not a bank breaker for sure but although its cool to be able to drive our trucks on the beach… not sure if I'll be going that often to make it worth the 160…

Other towns in South Jersey are cheaper than Brigantine but most don't allow year-round access. IMO, surf fishing sucks around here, but if you just want to drive on the beach then you could get one of the $25 or less permits and use it in the spring or fall. Just have a fishing rod in the truck since most permits stipulate that you must be fishing to drive on the beach.

Seems every beach has its own charge... Maybe a similar beach could be agreed on and all can grab a pass at the same beach....

 

I get the island beach state park fishing permit. $195 for an annual permit but you need fishing gear & other items on your truck to be on the beach, fires are allowed. It usually ends up being poles in the ground, cup in hand sitting next to a fire on the beach.. can't beat it.

The far North end of Brigantine is pretty fun to explore. Half of the island is basically uninhabited. I lived in Brigantine for about 4 years. Horrible place to live if you have to drive. I remember seeing people getting pulled over in their cars by bike cops!

 

Never been to the north end. It couldn't be any worse then Ventnor I was up there a couple weeks for most of the day and I was pretty much being followed every where I went by the cops. I know a few people that live there and they said the cops do that all the time, so they ride bike or take the NJ transit out if they go to the bars.

I know a good place to eat. Andres between s. 13 & 14th on Brigantine blvd. They make a good square pie.
