finished it shortly after that post. (my favorite set!) although, would love to build the UCS Falcon

i was more referring to just the designing of the products and how they come up with what attaches to what and the unique pieces that are not at all what you would expect.

example: the "ice pick/axe" used in the engine intakes.
just paying attention to all the little things impresses the hell out of me.

Gotcha. Very creative. Like the engine on the hearse that I built they kept it creative using the bones.

^^^^Looks like your son has a blast!

Here's my new project. Picked up the digital manual and parts list from an eBay auction. The guy that designed it did an awesome job. He designed this back in 2000, so I've had to change the brick colors over to the new bluish grays and substitute a few colors that were never made in the new grays. All in all, it's about 2500 bricks. Best I can tell it'll be about 3'x3'. I was able to get everything ordered through Bricklink in 19 different orders (being able to upload the xml of my parts list into my Bricklink wanted list was a HUGE time saver). Total for bricks and instructions comes out to about $550, and I'm sure I could have lowered that if I'd have taken the time to shop around a bit more. Can't wait to get started! :bananadance::bananadance:

Here's the guy's website if you're interested in more of his creations: http://brickstruct.com/

As a heads up, I tried to order as many of the bricks new as possible and I cleaned out availability of some new bricks in the US. For example, the 8x8 radar dishes were $14.99 each new and I got the last 3 available in the US on Bricklink. :annoyed:

If anyone buys the instructions for this set, I'm happy to share my parts list and XML file to help you begin your Bricklink buying adventure!
