I'm really hoping he's going to wire up an electronic trigger mechanism for the twin .30 cal machine guns he is going to tuck up under the hood. In which case I hope it works and he shares the method.

 

Just took mine apart because I'm working on my truck anyways. The chrome lever does not just unscrew from the shifter housing . I didn't tear the whole assemble out but it looks as if its molded to the plastic pieces inside.

If you really need to get it out I'm sure there is a way. I just didn't feel like taken the whole thing out and disassembling it on the bench .

Looks like the lever is affixed in whatever plastic housing that is (part 33560), but I couldn't find anything specific on that box of wonders.

The problem is you have to find a 3rd with the same gear ratio as your truck. Luckily automatic FJ's and my 4Runner have 3.73's

 

Yeah, I'll do the research. Pretty sure I got the common/found everywhere gears.
