I just purchased a new Tacoma and found on my 2nd day of ownership what appears to be a missing button cover near the auto gear shift. I am having difficulties with the dealership in getting a replacement, and at this point if it is a really cheap part I think I would rather just buy it myself. The problem is tracking down what the part is, and where to actually buy it. I am hoping you all may be able to help.

    See missing piece below:

Thoughts? Any idea of part number or where to purchase?

    Thanks all.

Its a shift lock over ride switch cover...... remember this in case the trans is ever stuck in park.

Came in handy when my brake lamp switch died......the brake lamp/light switch wouldn't tell the trans that my brake pedal was being depressed so I wouldn't have been able to get outta park without this button.

Test the button...........with keys out, press the little nub in that hole down, then shift outta park without touching the brake (make sure parking brake is set for safety)...... just in case u have the trans lock for some reason later, u will now be aware of 2 things.... HOW the button/switch works, and also IF the button/switch works.

Maybe someone snagged it for their truck when they sat/test drove yours on the lot because they lost theirs.

Id def cover it with something.....for now, even a small piece of masking tape.... that way nothing gets lodged in there.

To clarify.............ur only missing the cover, the button/switch is still there. It is not broken off, it just looks that way. The cover snaps in and out easily with a fingernail, pen, flat screwdriver, knife blade, etc for easy access.

    Enjoy the truck!

When i purchased by 2012 mine to was missing that little cover piece, just head back to your dealership and see if they can give you a replacement or purchase one. I just ordered one, part # is 33554-04060 i think i paid like $1.50 for mine.
