What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Just filled up for the 2nd time since removing my topper.

Just got 24.3 mpg, my second best avg ever (24.4 being 1st).

I'm convinced (yeah yeah after only two tanks) that no topper with an empty bed is the best for fuel economy.

Now I just have to figure out a way to store my topper in the rafters of my puny garage... 45acp is gonna love me with all the projects I have for him when he comes down

 

Dude rears are way important for low mids and mids. Id never get rid of them. Where all the warm of sound is produced in a car stereo.

You'll want to seal up the entire cubby as best as possible. Then put polyfill in it to make the sub sound better

I practically had to take tools outa his hand when he came and saw me! lol

 

My plan is to get one of $100 elec. winches from harbor freight and mount it on my garage ceiling to pull it off and on whenever I want. Can rig up some lock points also for perm. storage and not worry about the winch giving way.

 

upgraded my brakes. Dual piston calipers and they fit under my stock 14" steel wheels.

 

Bolted on the new off-road lights. I got me a tonne of electrical to wire.

 

I'm not saying they're useless and I'm getting rid of them they just aren't as important to me and I don't even hear them.. If they blew, sure I'd replace them but I doubt I'd ever amp em but maybe so.. Wouldn't really hurt if theyre being replaced since it would all be apart anyway

 

That's what I have in mind but my rafters are 8' from the ground and my car is a true single car garage.

I could probably make something work but when the topper is being stored there won't be much room for anything else in my garage... including me

 

I think this is a bit overstated. It adds a lot of volume and "warmth" via back filling the sound image... but for the most part, what our ears hear most are the two front speakers... since we're (essentially) sitting directly between them.

 

I love my rears. Ads a ton to my system.

Not true.

Especially our trucks. The fronts are so low and in front of us the rears a very important. In fact I bet if you measure from your actual ear to the speak the rears would be almost as close if not as close.

Either way they are crucial to how car audio is processed and if you have freq cut off set right they are responsible for e low mids more then the fronts.

 

Ive noticed my rear speakers are louder than my fronts. But not very much

 

Can you adjust the balance and fade on the radio?

 

trying to remove paint from the console that the previous owner had sprayed on.

 

Replaced magnafine external transmission filter, 30K on it. Didn't touch the aft since it was still bright red, 30K. Yesterday I cleaned my AFE ProDry and MAF sensor with 30K since the last cleaning. Next week I'll tackle the radiator fluid and install a new thermostat with the jiggle valve in the 6 o'clock position.

 

Do you change your own transmission fluid?

If he has an aftermarket radio then he defiantly should. I am pretty sure you adjust it on the stock radio by pulling out the power button and turning it.

( The button might come off like mine did if its cracked behind it, not a big deal. I didn't realize that was a function to pull it out and turn until I glued mine on and tried to get it back off. Never use gorilla glue to put a volume knob back on.)

 

Yeah I can with my sony deck but it sounds better the way it is

 

How hard is it to get all the fluid out? I read that the drain plug only drains like 3 quarts.
