Update...the body man is working on it right now... including parts (made in Taiwan, Yikes) the work on the front of the truck will run me approximately $600.

For the rear, I will buy a used bed, tailgate, driver's side tail light, and bumper. I think it will look pretty good when it's done.

I'll post some pics when I get it back

This is not surprising. Who do you think do all the repairs in US collision shops? :D

Hey Hansel, my 04 base tacoma suffered the same exact kind of damage to the front end as yours.

I'm in SoCal so thinking about getting some quotes from local bodyshops rather than do it myself.

Can I ask how long it took to get the truck back?
Is $600 the average cost you received from bodyshops?

    Thanks

I ordered the parts (275 bucks) from an outfit called PartsFit in Nogales, AZ. My understanding is that they have locations in So. Cal. local number in Nogales is 520 761 9820 and they could maybe put you through to their location in So Cal. I ended up bringing the truck across the border to Nogales Sonora and a Mexican bodyman did the work for about 300 bucks or so if i remember correctly. worked out real well for me. he had the truck about 3 or 4 days if I recall.

I think the bodywork would have been quite a bit more here in the US, but never bothered to get a quote on this side of the border

BTY, got over 75k miles on it and the Tacoma has been great....

Edit: just checked their locations and none in So Cal. Calexico, yes:

Oh wow ok, didn't realize you had gone to Mexico for the bodywork.

I'm going to take it in this Tuesday and see what they say...

I'm projecting around $2k - $3k for parts and repairs.

We'll see...thanks for the quick response!
