Hope this is in the right forum fellas.... So I picked up my new 4x4 dbl cab tacoma with the 6spd manual this past thursday and got under her yesterday putting some undercoating on (beach truck). Noticed the bottom of the transmission looked like an intense matrix of spiderweb cracks- you can easily feel them when you run your finger along them. Either this is normal and I was high (from the fumes of course :rasta:) or I need to visit the dealership...

...its not leaking oil, just might look like that in the pics cause my gloves were oily as I was feeling her up...

Is it "new" to you or new? Either way that does not look correct.

It could be some type of clear coat sealer that was sprayed under the truck and it just cracked, have it checked though to be sure.

I don't know if it's good or bad, but I've seen aluminum castings looking like that on vehicles for a long time. Vehicles that had no problems.

I know that this looks bad in a photo, and it may make some people panic thinking their transmission is about to fall apart, but it is actually very normal in appearance. I have seen many different makes and models in the shop with that appearance on a transmission case. There is nothing wrong with it. It has to do with casting and casting removal.

    Cosmetic casting flaws.

My 2006 6-speed looks the same, and has never had a problem.
