Need help: My 7.62x39 mid-length gas piston with a carbine stock/buffer likes to short stroke, and I've narrowed it down to:

    a) under-powered surplus ammo
    b) too much carrier weight with a heavy buffer doesnt fully cycle the action

It always ejects the spent cartridge, but it doesnt like to chamber the next round.

What is the lightest buffer weight I can use with this set up? Basically, where can I buy the lightest buffer weight to work in my carbine buffer tube?

Is you're buffer stamped with a h or h2? If its stamped with h I'd go with a standard (unmarked) buffer.

    sweet, let me check tonight.

Also, I heard Wolff reduced power buffer springs may work too. Is an unmarked buffer along with a Wolff reduced power buffer spring be the lightest buffer setup available?

    I think so, I don't know a lot about the non 223 AR's though.

Also, the standard buffers are what have been recommended for mod-length gas systems.

I would try different ammo first. As in factory new ammo.

Carbine buffers will have a "C" stamped on them, iirc. These are the lightest.

Got these for around 8 bucks each.

Sorry the pic is wrong, but 7 are O Kay Mags and one on the bottom is a colt. SO in reality, they are all colt. Also found a boat load of 5.56 in stock. I bought, "Some."

Wow, just got my BCG from RGuns! If it wouldn't have taken 4 months I would be impressed with the great quality!

i would try (in this order)
    1. lighter buffer (CAR buffer, idk if there is anything lighter)
    2. different buffer spring (reduced power spring, i used to know who sold them, but can't remember, maybe this: http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/WOL16502.aspx)
    3. if these don't work, you may have to open up the gas port on the barrel (at your own risk)

edit: have you checked to make sure the bolt carrier isn't tilting or getting hung up when the action cycles?

What is a fair price for a Rock River Arms 6.8 SPC? It appears to have no extras such as BUIS or any sort of optics. They are asking $1699 which seems like panic pricing to me. I would like to know a fair price to try to talk them down to.
