Looks good man, I still have throw some plates on mine. They are naked right now. :D

Well, options are pretty limited right now. How does everyone feel about Tahuya again? Relatively close, we know what to expect from the trails (no surprises), and there are still some areas to have fun.

I was also looking into other Ghost Towns around the state, found some cool sites with recent updates and pictures.

    http://www.ghosttownsofwashington.com/
    http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/wa/wa.html
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ghost_towns_in_Washington

There are a few old mining towns in the neighboring counties down here that would be interesting to check out and take pictures, and maybe film a cheesy horror movie :p

Let us know if you find an area that sounds interesting. I can probably give you a hand on Sunday or Monday with your 2-Way if you want. I found out I have Memorial Day off as well, so I don't really have any plans for that day (yet).

I'm going to have to do some real research on figuring out what things I need from Blue Sea. I know only real basic stuff.

Tahuya is going to be jam-packed. I will be looking at the snow map in a few minutes to see if I can find any areas that are OK. Did you just want to stop by my work afterwards and we could try looking at google maps?

What's wrong with all the native Washingtonians not knowing where to go? You need an ex-Oregonian and an Alaskan to help you out? ;)

My reason for not knowing where anything is, I didn't start driving until joining the Navy and my only transportation growing up was the public transit sys. I am broke until end of Aug. After that I can do long distance. Also Tahuya or around seattle is fine with me.

That was my only concern too. With it being Memorial Day Weekend, and the weather warming up, we'll likely run into quite a few rigs on the already cramped trails.

Well, good on you for not destroying private property for the sake of wheeling. That is the #1 reason why off-roading has such a bad rep nowadays. I like to think that our group is fairly responsible with our outings, and we adhere to the Tread Lightly ethos for the most part.

There is also Straddleline ORV park outside of McCleary. I've never been (which is kind of sad for being 20 minutes from Olympia), but they do have a small dedicated 4x4 area, and mud pits.

    Info. here: http://www.straddlelineorvpark.com/?page_id=797

Their website is somewhat confusing when it talks about fees and such. I need to call them to see what it costs just to get in with a truck and rally around.

Cap. Forest is in their backyard as well, but any wheeling in Cap. Forest MUST be in approved areas ONLY, and we have to follow all the rules and regulations imposed by DNR. Mike and I spend a lot of time doing SAR training up there, and a few fellow SAR members work (or have worked) for DNR/Law Enforcement in the past, so our reputation is on the line. But on that note, there are some fun roads, decent views, and a couple gravel pits for shooting 'n such.

I think Straddleline is ATV/bike only.

Cap Forest I don't think has much for challenge, but there's some nice camping to be had that ~might~ be empty if that's what we are looking to do.

EDIT: Found it... sort of. $15/vehicle, I don't know how big of trails or difficulty, or if the trails are closed on the dates that are not listed.

    EDIT 2: found a video.

Tahuya sounds fun but like others have said I bet it will be packed. I like the idea of exploring a ghost town! Or another idea would be to see if we could make it to spider lake this time in Olympia.

My reason is because my truck is a pavement princess and I don't do too much trail driving. But I'm doing my best trying to get help and change. Gonna be a long road but I'm ready to potentially put a scratch on my truck. :) All the proposed ideas sound sweet to me. You guys thinking Saturday?

I'm just trying to needle everyone into getting their thinking hats on :)
I request permission to hire an Indian to shed a single tear when your truck gets its first ding.
I think a hike sorta like we did through that last ghost town would be a great idea. other ideas might be a cave or waterfalls or something.

if we want something like a regular hike, I can do 5 miles. I can maybe do 12 if I'm not a dumbass and try to do the whole thing without eating or drinking.

Now I assume we would need to drive a bit in 4wd to get to the hike?

There are miles and miles of forest roads, all linked by 4x4 trails. Pretty much all the tough spots have bypasses to get around. For anyone wanting to go but not thinking your truck could make it at all, bring a quad or dirtbike :D or ride copilot. This place is ten minutes from my house.

Looks awesome but tough, specifically for a longer wheel base rig like mine...

Tacoma World is not a bunch of guys who like Toyota trucks. It's more of a support group.... so you're in luck.

All I can say is that Ben took more damage during 1 SINGLE meet and greet than you truck took in a lifetime.

If you ask Alan and Sean, they'll think this is a nice warm up. Of course Alan had more dents than all of us combined. But that's what armor is for.

So last weekend I took a drive up Stampede Pass. It was early in the trail - right after you pass the power lines that the trail became impassable with deep icy snow. Elevation was 3,450 feet.

We basically stopped at that point, set up a couple of lawn chairs and took some R&R
