They won't be yet, but in a few years they will be just like the 360 is being pushed to its limits by modern games now.
IIRC the 360 was the first mainstream tri-core to hit the market. At the time I don't think quad cores or tri-cores for that matter were available to the public (ie on the market to buy and install).
I know. That comment was pointed at SCII.

Probably similar to what a PS4 will cost and you can use controllers on computers but they don't work on all titles. Gamers have pretty much moved to consoles too... so most titles are on consoles now...

The rumor mill says the PS4 will be around $400.

Nope quads where out. Tri cores died in pc world. Where pointless.

I love a keyboard over controller. And mouse. Why I always kicked this shit outa my friends that where Xbox guys and I'd come play. In pc you actually have to be able to aim fucking fast cause of a mouse. Makes its harder. Love it.

Just did some quick research on Intel and looks like their first dual core CPU was the Pentium D series which wasn't released until May of 2005. Their first quad core, the Core 2 Quad was released in January of 2007. They never made any tri-cores that I can tell.

360 was released Nov of 2005 I believe. End of 2005 at least. So it at least had the best CPU on the market (unless AMD had a better one at the time) when it was released. Can't say much for the graphics since they can be hard to compare...

Just looked at AMD and it dropped dual core Opterons a month before Intel's dual cores and it dropped dual core Athlons the same month as Intel. It dropped it's quad core Phenoms a few months after Intel's quad cores though. Interestingly enough, it's 1st tri-core CPU appeared almost a year after its quad cores did. haha

Why yes I am really bored at work... How did you know?:cookiemonster:

Yep. According to wiki the Phenom x4 was released in 2007 and the Phenom x3 was released in 2008. My understanding of the tri-cores is that they are quad-cores that had a bad core so they disabled it and sold them as tri-cores rather than throwing them out. Some people could actually unlock the 4th core and got a quad core at tri core price. The 4th core tended to be iffy though. haha

What are the rest of your specs? My lapotop only has 6 gigs and can run Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, and Far Cry 3 just fine.

Yea I knew amd did. Amd sucks. Never had luck with them.

    Well cool.

I didn't. I sold it off for truck parts. Paid for RTT and rear bumper and Moab trip and other stuff.

But Marty Bratt draysons dad bought it and finished it. It's bone stock other then the fledged pistons and metal head gasket I put it it. I drove it a while ago. Drives smooth as silk. It's no racer tho. Marty said he would keep it for me and sell it back to me when I have a real job lol

    Poor you..

I wouldn't say AMD sucks. Both AMD and Intel are great products, one is better than the other at different times.

I've ran AMD in all of my computers I have built, my laptop is the first Intel processor I've ever owned.

Core I7 720 1.6GHz quad core with the shitty, basically useless Turbo Boost with 8GB of DDR3 ram, a 1GB ATI 5870M graphics card and two internal 500GB HDD's. I think the CPU is my biggest bottleneck in the system...
AMD has more or less been a dead end since Intel released their core series (i3, i5 and i7's). The 2nd gen cores seal the deal. Didn't help that the FX series with the "8 core" CPU's was pretty much a flop... Core for Core the Phenom II's are faster (or at least were, I haven't followed the computer scene much since I got my Tacoma back at the end of 2011, so not really sure what all has happened over the last 18 months... haha).

The biggest indicator of this is that AMD itself announced that it was going to stop focusing on CPU's and start focusing more on graphics cards and other products.

I'm a Intel fan now for the reason I posted above, but AMD cpu's and chipsets are far more OC friendly than Intel's are. Atleast since the Phenom II and Core series, may have been different before them and after them. That has been part of what was keeping AMD afloat is they appealed to the hardcore guys by being more OC friendly than Intel. Nvidia and AMD graphics cards keep flip-flopping on who is best though lately and each one is better at certain titles than the other. They are kind of like comparing apples to oranges anymore because each is good at it's own aspects of graphics.

    Oh?

Intel did recently lock up their stuff more with sand bridge stuff but they still OC better either way.

My qx9750 has been at 4.2 on air for years.

And my nvidia dual 460s coed easy to 822 on air. I had some hd7950 or something before that in crossfire. They sucked.
