Auto vs Manual which one is stronger?

Aren't the 1st gen manual and the 4cyl 2nd gen manual the same exact transmission? I think that is what he was getting at with that post.

 

Autos these days are tougher. Back in the 60's all the way through 00's I think manuals were tougher. Auto's have came a long way in the last few years.

 

I have a 4 sp auto in my 4x4 reg cab and its the best shifting transmission I ever had. It never hunts and knows exactly when to down shift while going up a steep hill. I also had a 4 sp auto in my 1st gen reg cab and it also was a damm good trany.

 

I like a manual when i go thru a mud hole.

 

Auto does just fine in the mud hole too. haha

I think this is why there are so many of these arguments. haha Seems like most people have hardly driven both and just stick to the one they have always had. haha

Ive driven both, but only owned one and for me, the clutch on these trucks was a little more difficult than id like. Thats the main reason i prefer my auto, plus not worrying about shifting all the time in traffic and on the million hills we have here is nice.

Still better than blowing a seal, I suppose.

 

My 5 speed can bench press 700 pounds! Pretty strong, methinks...

 

I love my 6-Speed. Don't get me wrong it has its problems and it's not the smoothest driving truck. Plus when people ask me if they can borrow my car at work, they say forget it if i ask if they can drive a stick.

 

That is a great deterrant for the folks that want to borrow a truck...

I just say no. Just because they can drive stick doesn't mean they can actually drive stick to my standards.
