Have you considered the safety of the two vehicles? For a daily rider I doubt the Jeep is anywhere near as safe as the Taco. No side airbags for example, and those side doors are relatively thin. Something to consider.

Rubicon has OEM sliders. Great for side impacts.

Indeed...my coworkers Jeep Rubicon sliders looks like a crushed soda can, they are not very strong, they just put it on just to say you have them

If I went Rubicon, I'd then do the the AEV conversion (additional $30K though, ouch may as well buy a Raptor)

Additional $30k!!?? So it's $33k for the jeep rubicon then $30k for the truck conversion!? So a $63,000 jeep truck? I know this thread is done but is this right?

so yeah, $30k includes everything, even painted, done. Meanwhile, the pick up kit for the Wrangler 2 door is only 8000.00. If Wrangler had a diesel with manual trans and AEV made the 4 door kit $11k + labor then maybe I'd actually do it...might last 25 years or 300k miles.

I had a 2005 2-door Wrangler Unlimited and ended up trading it in for my Tacoma. I love the tacoma and don't think I would go back to the Wrangler. My dad had a 2010 4-door wrangler and ended up trading it in for a tundra after seeing my tacoma. To each is own. I had jeeps for the last 10 years or so, from a Cherokee to the Wrangler. I don't think I would go back.... Just my 2 cents.

so your saying you bought the tacoma for 25.5k and wanted to sell it for 34k. so the tires, fogs, rims and tint cost 10k? i bought my 2013 trd off road manual(a bit more expensive than auto) 4x4 w/ extended waranty for 32k and that was MSRP. 34k was a bit high man. :crapstorm:

Reading comprehension much?? Here, let me simplify a bit.

Asking price for the nearly fully loaded JKUR w/ 8,000 miles is $34,000.

The dealership offered me in writing $27,500 for my truck. I paid $25,500 for it 9 months and 7,500 miles ago. For the record, that's an INCREASE in value.

I guess technically I put $1,700 worth of aftermarket accessories on it, but I've never had accessories retain ANY residual value before.

Also, for the record, I passed on the deal. Yes, I'm keeping my $28k sticker Tacoma over the nearly $40k stickered Jeep. Coming from an older Tacoma, my choice may have been different.

    nothing cool

still can't believe that. 70K for a Jeep truck thing is unreal. Maybe 37k-40k but not $70,000.
