How does Vick get 2 years for bankrollin a dogfightin ring and Donte' Stallworth gets 30 DAYS for DUI Manslaughter? Not sayin anything Vick did was right, I just want to know how Stallworth only got 30 days for killing another HUMAN. This isn't a political or argumentative post, I just don't understand.

yea 2 years house arrest and suspended license. But I'd still rather do that than go to jail for 2 years. I think whether he tried to help the guy or not he deserved more than 30 days in jail.

In most states DUI w/ death (manslaughter) is a misdemeanor offense, which carries a maximum of up to 1 year of incarceration plus up to 5 years of probation. This will vary somewhat based on individual state penal codes. While dog fighting in itself is a misdemeanor, you get charged PER dog involved and you can be charged if you profit from it.

Stallworth is not the first to kill someone while drunk, Leonard Little did it too, Ray Lewis was a suspect in a double murder, Adam jones supposedly had a man shot and others targeted. Football is a violent sport, played by violent men (aka: idiots)

So, if I wanna kill someone, all I gotta do is drive drunk, hit the person, try to render aid and I can get away with it.... cool!!!

Yeah, I know he didn't plan it, but it sucks that that's all the jail time he got.

thats bullshit. how can you kill somebody and just get 30 days in jail? some lady ran over a bycylist a few years ago where I live and killed him because she was on her damn cell phone. All she got was a $450 fine for driving to fast for conditions. What the hell?

I think it was the extenuating circumstances. The guy he hit was out of the crosswalk and darted into the street in an effort to catch a bus. Stallworth also never tried to leave the scene and was fully cooperative with the authorities as well. I think the plea bargain was because of these circumstances, the prosecution would rather have a plea and conviction than to take it to a jury and lose especially in a high profile case. Just my opinion.

To answer your question dwalden2, the media has a bigger impact on public opinion and the court system than most of us want to admit. Had the media execs been more into the dog fights, Vick would still be playing ball. I really believe that most can relate to drinking and driving more and find it more "acceptable" than putting two dogs in a pit to tear each other apart. Sorry to get "political" on the subject.
