Well said, and the fact that they have a line of guys willing to do their job in a heartbeat you know they put everything into their product.

However, I love America and our legacy was created on the backs of the hardest working, bravest, brightest group of individuals to ever walk this earth...imho.

I really hate to continue on this topic, but I'm sure a very large percentage of the workers at the Toyota plant in SAN ANTONIO are hispanic. I have less than ZERO problem with this, but if you want to make an argument about whether the quality of a vehicle is better based on where it is built... well, you can figure out the rest.

 

I work at TMMTX which is the only Truck Assembly Plant in North America. As of 2010, both the Tacoma and Tundra (all models) are assembled in the US at our plant. We stamp all the Tundra sheetmetal in house,weld it,paint it then do final assembly. For the Tacoma, we stamp eveverything (cabs,fenders,hoods) to make the cabs. The beds for the Tacoma are actually stamped, welded, painted and assembled in Baja, Mexico then sent to Texas for assembly on the trucks.

 

For what it's worth - Toyota only sells TRD models here in MX. That might be an indication that is all they make here.

 

There are no truck assembly plants in Canada or Mexico ?

 

I recall my sticker saying final assembly point, Tijuana, BC, Mexico...I have to dig it up.

At my local dealer, all of the Tacoma's say Mexico too. Even the base models. I still had all the same TSBs as everyone else, even have that annoying tick. So I guess an assembly line is an assembly line no matter where.

All Single and Access Cabs are made in Texas. A percentage of Double Cabs are made in Mexico, but the majority of Double Cabs are made in Texas. In 2010 we started producing the Tacoma here in San Antonio after the Plant in Fremont,CA (NUMMI) was closed.

My VIN starts with a 3, but on my window sticker it says:

Port/Plant: Otay Mesa, CA TMMBC

So was it built in Mexico or California?

 

The California plant was closed in 2010 IIRC

 

So why would my 13 have this on the window sticker?

Edit: never mind. I went out and looked at my door sticker and it says Mexico.

If I wasn't educated you bet your ass I would work hard for that $100. That college graduate didn't go to school to do manual labor .
