Hows the finish up close? I've seen some rattlecan'd bumpers and grills that just look sloppy and cheap. Did you apply any sealant coat on them?

Sounds good, Ill post pics after the weekend

Just clarifying, I'm using the spray on duplicolor bedarmor.

I'm going to do a "test strip" tomorrow with the bedarmor and clear it to see how it turns out. I've heard clearing it will keep the shine and protect it from UV rays a little better. Ill just have t play with it and see

For those of you thinking about duplicolor bed armor, I did my toolbox with it a few weeks ago. It turned out sooo much better than I expected. I love the texture! As far as prep goes I just scuffed it up really good with some 600 grit (lowest I had on hand) and washed it with soap and water. I didn't use self etching primer because I used it on my wheels and wasn't impressed. I did let the toolbox bake for about a day before I put it back on.

I'll put pics in my build thread as well as here as soon as I get it done this weekend. I'm just worried about scuffing up my flares, hope it all works out

Ha no problem. I would definitely use the stuff again. And for the flares, I'd be hesitant to sand since they are plastic. You could probably just clean them with acetone or alcohol or something and spray away. If you must sand, use high grit and low pressure. Let the paper do the work. Also, talk to Pcbuilder. He just bedlined his. Not sure how they turned out

I think im going to just take your advice and clean them really well. The factory flares already kinda of have a porous texture to them, maybe theres no need to sand.. :notsure: but i will find out!

Yeah, I bedlined mine with Rustoleum bedliner. I sanded the first one I did, but all it did was scratch the fender flares, not necessarily sand them down. So for the rest I just cleaned them acetone and sprayed.

Turned out great, but I didn't do enough coats on the inner part of the flare that is in the wheel well so it is coming off on those parts. Completely my fault though. I plan to redo it the same way though, just better coats.

    Here are some pics..

Yeah I was thinking they had a texture to them. And like Pcbuilder said abou the edges. When you bedline, make sure you paint all the way around the edges. Otherwise there is an exposed edge which will start the peeling process. I dipped my fender trim and even dipped the back to help prevent that haha.

Hmm, didn't mess up mine? But I also used very little. :notsure:

Also, if you can remove your fender, it will be very easy! the only problem with that is that you'll want to make sure you have extra tabs for when yours break. Also you have to make sure the rubber trim lines back up perfectly when you re-install them. M3Bassman super-glued his trim to the flares so he didn't have to worry about them coming off. I'll probably remove mine within the next couple week to do a better job of painting them.

I did, it was damp but fine, I'll have to dig up some from 2011 when the rivers flooded, I did the same thing in subdivisions.

I think it depends on the type of plastic. I soak my rc wheels and tires in acetone to demount them and it doesn't do anything to my wheels at all.
