Exactly, I think it depends on the formulation of the "plastic"...there are different types.

Agreed. Acetone on interior plastic, no. On exterior plastic like flares, mirrors, door handles, or valence I don't think it'd be a problem.

I did it to taunt a co worker who went out and bought a brand new trail edition FJ saying they'd come out and play with me.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. The exterior plastic is very thick, plus you're just painting over it anyways. But if somebody isn't sure then they can just use gas as a precaution.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but with your bed hitting your cab hard enough to dent your cab, your frame is likely bent unless the bolts for the bed gave way...

    Where's your build thread!? :D

I visually inspected the frame but i will have it inspected. I did drive it home and it drove straight. But that doesnt mean that the frame isnt bent

Yeah, hopefully the bed just shifted. The fact that your bed went back into position is a good sign.

Yeah. The gap between the cab is the same all the way across which is good news. The truck did pretty well though. Maybe if the frame is fine i can upgrade with some rear armor.

When i was hit the impact threw me into the car in front of me. The trailgear bumper i bought of craigslist saved me big time. The car i hit... just drove off. the only front end damage i got was a broken hella light. Pretty satisfied about that

Hopefully your frame is fine...would be good to know that you only had a rusty stock bumper trashed ;) And a good excuse for an upgrade!

Thanks man! What didn't you like about the self etching primer? If I don't need it, I sure won't waste the money on it lol.

Hey taco52, almost the exact same thing happened to me last August, except on the passenger side. Bed contacted the cab and dented in almost the same manner as yours, drove just fine after collision, frame just fine, bed took all of the flex. [IMG]
