It's a truck. It's function is to do work/handle terrain regular vehicles can't. If people want a family vehicle, they should get a minivan or an SUV.
Also, I find that the ride in my Taco isn't bad at all- it's far smoother than any of my family's vehicles, including our two vans. (Although that might just be because my dad doesn't put money into the vehicles, so they ride with blown out shit. :D

Most of the things they didn't like are the reason I like my Tacoma... same reason I love my 94 Miata.

    Simplicity.

If I wanted a truck that handled like a car I would have bought a car!

We bought a Venza for family duty, and bought the Tacoma to handle everything else PLUS family duty.

That's true... But hopefully for them they don't lose too many potential buyers in the process of dragging their feet. For example, I plan to be in the market for a new truck within the next couple years. If something major doesn't happen for the Tacoma I will likely take my money to Ford and maybe buy an old Tacoma or god forbid it a Jeep.

In my opinion, they do make one hell of a truck. That's why I bought it.

It's not for everyone, and that's ok. I don't care if Joe Blow down the road buys an F-150 or what he thinks of my Tacoma; to each their own. If the flaws bothered me enough I would trade it in.

The only reason why they are dragging their feet is because they have no competition right now. If they start losing market share they will step up their game, let's hope they do start losing some market share.

" the Toyota Tacoma is well suited to handling cargo hauling and fairly challenging off-roading."

Screw that shit, the Tacoma is not very good for soccer moms, give it a bad score.

Like damn, if your buying it as a family car or daily driver don't buy something with a bed and off road package, they make something called a car that scores high in those categories the Tacoma failed.

Tacomas are the worst minivan too, they even dared to not put on a sliding door.

I'm not saying it's perfect or that the interior couldn't use a revamp. It's jut not important enough for me to buy something else. I'll take the reliability and resale value over that, but that's just me. If it's not for you, that's cool too, but I don't really care what CR or anyone else says. I knew what I was getting into.

I'd care if I were thousands of dollars under water after half a year.

I'd like to see older. Manual hubs, manual shift t-cases. Vinyl flooring. Unfortunately, America doesn't go to work anymore. Machines do that shit for us. We go to jobs.

Aside from the poorly put together review, the Tacoma is on an aging platform that needs some revision. Maybe they want us to buy the Tundra... Hell if I know.

    Too many to list now.
Mine has two specific purposes :) Commuter and Toy, it does both amazingly well IMO.

Feh. I hope Toyota doesn't read this and decide they need to build something more like the Ridgeline to keep these guys happy.

Look at what's happened in the "small suv" segment:

    transfer cases - gone
    ground clearance - less

They've become simply high-roofed compact cars; oh sorry "crossovers."

    No #$^cks given.

I'd love to see their review of a Jeep Wrangler.

As far as needing a new Tacoma, I don't care. I bought my '05 for a song and a dance and will run it into the ground. The only thing that would make me raise my eyebrows is a domestic Helix with Diesel, even then I'm not dropping $35k on one.

Exactly. Ford Explorer and others are now just car based - FWD with optional RWD.

I disagree. I think that is what makes them reliable. Toyota isn't constantly changing stuff cause everything works well.

In 2007-2010 we could but a Tacoma Offroad TRD or TRD 2 for 28K. 28K is what my TRD 2 listed for with extras, make that 28885.00. I purchased it for 24K.
Now it would be 35K, and yes the new ones have more options but most of us don't need them. The new Taco also don't have options the 07-10 had.
All being even the Tacoma was a great deal now not so much.
