Spacers vs. bilstein 5100 shocks at 2"?

    So how would u raise the front axle transfer case skid plate to ground height legitlly?

    I just pulled a spacer lift out of mine last night. Was installed by the previous owner. After some serious issues on the front with the shock bushing being rusted solid to the shock nut, we got the 5100's in. Now I only have mine set at 1.5 inches as I don't run 285's, the ride is night and day. I actually have a suspension again.

    Go 5100's. If you are going to all that work to pull everything out, do it once.

    maybe im thread jacking here a bit but my question is how is using a spacer any different then adjusting the 5100 up? im 5100 and eibachs, 5100's set at .85 putting me at 2.45" of lift but im weighed down with plate bumper/winch. wheel measure is 21.75" so thats only about 1.5" of lift after the weight. i want another 3/4" of lift give or take. what would work best, a spacer or 5100's up another notch? again sorry if im thread jacking. seemed to be the same question the main guy was asking

    The 5100 is more robust, and can take some abuse. The ride will suffer a little when you crank it up, but it's been designed to handle it.

    A stock strut sitting under a 2" spacer is more likely to bottom out on rough terrain and blow apart or bend where the shock is welded down near the LCA.

    That is unless your spacer goes above the coilover, in which case disregard the bold.

    ok, time to ask the question that makes me feel like a complete noob.
    up the 5100 to 1.7 to get .8" more lift or get this spacer (.75" of lift) ???
    again with the eibachs and 5100 at .85" im only getting about 1.5" of lift and want to get closer to 2.5"
    what would work best? sorry im such a noob on this :(

    You should've installed the OME in the first place :poking:

    If you use the spacer on top of the C/O you will loose up-travel. If you crank the snot out of your C/O to get as much lift as it'll give you you'll sacrifice ride quality.

    Consider the demands of your truck. If it'll never see any real trail time/abuse then throw in the spacer and be done. if you want the lift and are going to thrash on your truck you had best find a more robust and reliable solution. Reference my opening statement.
