I'd imagine they gave it a quick pop and slid it over, I know I've done it once or twice when I locked my keys inside. No alarm and no other damage, I was just a little mad my wife had to deal with it since she is...not so level headed in those situations.

On to the good news, time to replace it! Anyone know a good audio shop? I've been to the place on the Kam by Best Buy and I got that receiver from Discount something or other in town by the Wedding Ring Shop but if anyone else has any ideas let me know. I might just go to Crutchfield.com. Decisions, decisions...

Sorry man, but atleast it was iust the headunit, and not the whole truck. I talked to windward audio a few years ago for mine, but they didn't have what I wanted in stock. I ended up getting it from Amazon faster for less. I like keeping it local, even if it costs just a tad more, but I wanted it faster than they could do..

I like supporting local business, but crutchfield makes it so easy to do yourself. Put a pioneer double din in my work F350. Came with the harness adapter, surround plate, antennae adapter.. The speakers even came with adapters, All you really have to do is splice the adapters to the Deck harness and to the speaker leads. I'm leaving the Tacoma alone though. It was ordered from the factory with the JBL, I just reserved it before it came in. Pretty happy with it, although I wouldn't have spent that much money on it if I had the choice. As for your sliding rear window, put a metal/wooden rodl in the track to keep these fkrs out.

When I bought it I haggled the guy down $100 to what Crutchfield was selling it at and then got the harness and install for $50. Planned on doing the install myself but let them do it and 20 minutes later I was set. Think I might just go with the same one, price on it dropped a fair amount since then and I liked the set up. Only thing I'd change is having the bluetooth mic built in rather than have a mic bumbling around in the cab.

Probably end up throwing an alarm system in it with the head unit. At least then there will be noise and lights if some DB decides to come around. Maybe some tint to keep out prying eyes...

Sorry to hear about the break in. I would suggest checking out Progressive Auto Sounds. They do good work. Bill is an older gentleman who works there. Very knowledgable. They also do alarms. I've been debating on getting one for my truck that will let me roll windows down from the remote

    Hey guys,
I recently got invited to take the exam for the apprenticeship program at pearl harbor. I don't mean to side track the thread but has anyone here taken the exam or who actually works there help me out? I mean what kind material is on the test? I really want/need this job, so any info would be appreciated. Want to get prepared as much as I can. Thanks again guys!

Shoot brah I took it a few years back right outta high school. If only I could recall I would help you out. The only thing I remember is that each portion of the exam was timed so you might have to be quick in some areas.

    Good luck!

Lots of high school math, reading comprehension...kinda like SAT's or an ASVAB if you ever took one.

IMO their testing guidelines are old and need updating. If you finish early, you still have to wait till the allotted time is over. Show up 20-30min early to find parking and expect to be there a while.

I took it awhile ago, and since I was out of school for awhile, I went to the Honolulu community college bookstore and bought a book to brush up on everything, reading comprehension, etc. It helped, I passed. Unfortunately I didn't have family working there. Seems like others did because I was asked to come back the next year. It all worked out though, found something better.

I thought they were cutting back? Maybe it depends what shop you're in, but I'd be concerned.

I heard that it got harder recently and that they only take the top scoring people...
During the last hire, I was told that they were only taking about 8 outside machinists, and 2 inside machinists. Lots of old timers retire every month, so they need to replace them often, but this year has been really slow because of the sequestration.
The course they offer at HCC covers everything on the test.
