Maybe I am just lucky. I have never had a bout of unemployment for more than 2 weeks since I was a kid.

It blows. I just moved down here from Ohio mid February and up until now I have had nothing. Starting a job within the next week though at the Hyundai dealership changing oil and rotating tires. I will do anything at this point if it makes my bills

Sorry to hear that Greytacom1.Unemployed is hard, I've been unemployed for 16 months, my unemployed check about $120 a month(it's really suck). I got a partime job , 25 hours a week. Nothing to be boastful about, but at least I got a job. Hang in there, don't give up...good luck.

Thanks man. Definitely hard specially when you have young ones. Good thing the oldlady works so not suffering to bad. Hopefully will find one soon. Collecting unemployment right now but don't like the sound of that. Would rather have a job then eating off the government. Don't get me wrong, eating off the government but would wait until retirement.

Its easy as fuck to be discouraged in job searches but you just have to remember, Nobody ever won by giving up. :D If you're a hard worker then youll get what you deserve. Time is time and i know its not a fun thing to wait for but eventually it will be back to... Fuck... I gotta work today?!

It definitely is a bitch to get jobs these days. I even went as far as saying I'd take LESS than the job was worth to see if the company would bite. I didn't really care about if I was happy or not because I am only in school for another 10 months but they always say, "If you truly like your job, you will never work a day of in your life".

I figured out that if I submitted my application then called and asked to speak to a manager a few days later, I had better return rate of either, yeah we want to interview you or no. I also went in and physically filled out applications (some companies still do physical apps). Dont give up though. Ive been unemployed for 3 months now and have wanted to give up multiple times. I live 1000 miles away from home and its my first time moving out so the stress is unbelievable. Just gotta keep moving.

A few websites I use for job searches:

Craigslist job section- there are actually a lot of job on there
    career builder
    snag a job
    indeed

Good luck guys! Hopefully we all find something soon.

    Don't give up, you guys!

There are all kinds of jobs out there, it's just that people aren't exposed to the resource tools to find them! It took me a while to find them but go to the government websites and from there, there are listings that you can find.

I told my son to spend an entire day doing a "blitz".

Make a list of potential job opportunities, fill out the applications (print them out if you need to), attach your resume and PHYSICALLY go to the place, ask for the manager, shake his hand and personally hand him the app/resume. Then a week later call him if he has not called you and ask him if he has had the chance to go over your app.

We did this years ago when he was 16. This was actually how we spent his birthday. He dressed in a full suit and tie, did the blitz and got hired on that day. When he had to leave because of college hours conflicting, he did another blitz and got four job offers that day. He chose one and has been there for a couple of years. Now that he's ready for a better, higher paying job, he did another blitz and got two more job offers.

You can do it!! Just commit one day to doing the blitz!! And the only real "work" is getting all the apps filled out. If they tell you that you need to fill it out online, tell them that you will do that as well but you wanted to come in and look around, meet HIM (the boss) because you are enthusiastic about being a part of their team.

But remember to follow up with calling them back. Don't think that they don't want you, and that's why they didn't call. Sometimes the apps get misplaced in the shuffle and although you made an impression, they cannot find your number to call you back.

I used to do the hiring for the company I worked with and when a person made an attempt to find me, introduce himself that impressed me that he would go through that in interest of being with the company.

    Good luck! :)
