Technically that would be illegal unless you turned it into an AOW and did the paperwork.

Yes, I do know that. Now if the barrel were 16" everything would be peachy.

This is kinda what I figured... I'm getting nightforce rings and they are pretty beefy as is... It's just gonna depend on if I wanna do It or not.... It's pretty simple and not time consuming for more peace at mind and added support to stay in the rings... Thanks guys for the input...

I think bedding the base is more critical. Receivers (even high end) aren't exactly the same as there is some cleaning up by hand done for cosmetics. So if you put your base that should match the receiver (which it won't for the reasons above) and then tighten it down to the proper inch/lb torque you can and more than likely deform the base even if slightly which again can cause binding on good rings or 1 piece ring sets. It's an easy process and worth the time spent. In fact ill be doing my 300WM This week.

Bedding the scope base to the receiver to take out any imperfections of machining between the two. It's a similar idea. You don't want the devcon or whatever you use to glue the base to the receiver just fill in all unnecessary gaps due to imperfect match up.

Hell some people will even bed their rings.

No that's different but granted they all reach for the same goal. Accuracy.
Google bedding scope base and some good write ups will come up. Such as on benchrest forums 6mmbr sinoershide etc

    Guns are scary and bad...

JK, here are some of mine. BTW, can you tell my priorities that my first post here is in the gun section :D

My everyday companion ;) Glock 19 with grip reduction done by me, top and side serration cuts by www.ateiguns.com and ghost 4.5 connector. Over 10k rounds and I've cleaned it just a few times within the first couple thousand when I thought guns needed cleaning...haha

Specs: CDD Lower, DPMS parts kit (available at the time in the '08 scare and has worked ok for me), Geiselle SD-E trigger, Magpul CTR stock, MIAD grip, Boonie Packer redi-mag, Vickers 2point Sling, BCM upper receiver, BCM BCG, BCM Gunfighter CH, BCM 16" Midlength gas barrel, Surefire 556-212 Flashhider, Troy 13" rail, Gear sector handstop, Troy Rear folding BUIS, DD fixed front BUIS, Surefire X300 Ultra 12o'clock, Aimpoint H1 in Larue QD mount.

I have 8-10k through this rifle and has been great. Never fails me.

Specs: Very similar to above but 14.5" pinned midlength gas barrel instead of 16". Also the Surefire X300 is not the ultra and it has a Trijicon SRS with Bobro mount instead of the H1 with Larue mount.

Top, Remington 870 with Magpul Stock. Very nice setup.

MP9 with stippling done by me and a 3.5lb trigger by www.ateiguns.com:

BTW, I do grip work on polymer guns for a living so if anyone wants any work done we can work something out. You can ship the gun to the ffl I do work out of. I specialize in Glocks and M&P's but can work on any polymer framed gun or accessory.

To me the value of the rifle isn't the monetary value but what it's worth to me (the owner). Don't get wrapped around the wheel on how much something cost. There is plenty of inexpensive rifles that are phenomenal and plenty of high dollar rifles that do not warrant the cost in my opinion.

My Benelli Nova that I just finished painting. Got it in a trade for my bow and it was in dire need of a refinishing. I love the way it looks now. I know its not a factory camo or a dip but it looks good enough and I have the satisfaction of knowing that I painted it myself. I also added a Limbsaver recoil pad cause this thing kicks like a mule.
