    Just traded in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo for this bad boy. Jeep was indestructible 4.0. It has 210,000 miles on it and was still running great. Picked up this 2011 2.7 Taco for $22k (Good price??) with 40,000 miles. I am hoping the 2.7 is as indestructible as my Jeep's 4.0 was!! Nothing done to it yet, just got it today.

    Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    Made a record mpg mark few days ago, am currently enroute on a 3,000 mile road trip and I got 25mpg at freeway speeds! SR5 4x4, didnt think it was possible but wow! Makes me so glad I have a 4 banger!

    24.5 was my best, but that was on a very hilly 70 mile round trip commutes to & from work at 70 & 75 mph on stock tires. If I could get a long trip on a flat hwy with my 255/85/16s on I know I would beat that.

    3 weeks ago I got my 09 Access Cab 2.7 with 26k miles for $15,800. It isn't 4WD though. But I won't need it.

    that's what I said... then I got a new third, regeared to 4.10 and added an arb locker... now I can lock my rear and go out and tear through some stuff...

    U regeared to 4.10? Sure about that? I don't know much about the 5lugs to tell u if its different or not but all 4cyl come stock with 4.10s

    no my old gear was a 3.75 ... when I first got it I put a fat bob lift and put 32s on it, so it got gutless, buddy of mine did the third swap and we checked the old gears

    Hmmmmmmm, why put 3.73s in a truck that is no different, besides a lil weight and height, and is still gonna have the same problem of lack of power? So by you putting a lift and bigger tires and switching to 4.10s, your truck still has a "lack of power" problem, the only difference is you had to spend the extra money to have it done

    there's always a lack of power.... now its just back to "stock" if you will... so same power, and correct mpgs... makes sense

    Before buying this truck I was a bit concerned with a 4 banger not having enough power. However after driving it for four months I'm very happy with the performance. Yep, I know...I need to get those tires cleaned up.

    That actually looks like the truck sits level with that much weight in the bed
    Yeah I thought it was fine also when mine was stock. But 33" mud tires really kills that power

    I agree when I had 28s on the taco.. I thought it was a quick-one lol then 32 ATOs... ahaha regeared made it better but moar power is always nice.. but it doesn't want to make me get rid of my taco for a trd... If anything it keeps me from getting tickets

    Yeah I love having a 4 banger. Of coarse I wouldn't mind more power but like u said, gears helped out a lot and I got full armor, mud tires, 4.88s, and drive 80 on the interstate which is 80% of my driving, and I get 22 mpg. Combine that with the reliability of Toyota 4 bangers and I'm a very happy person
