The only one I've had to do was on my Olds Delta 88. It was the old mechanical style 307 V8..fkn easy.

Ironically I had to drop the tank out of that car, leak at the tank seam..

My buddy thought he ran his car out of fuel a few weeks ago. I had to strongarm the guy to wait till I went and got him 2 gallons. What finally convinced him was I asked him if he had about 600-800 bucks laying around he didn't need (guy is dirt poor broke right now with 2 teenagers). He laughed. I said "then don't get any smart ideas about cranking it till I get there..that's about what your fuel pump you will probably destroy is going to cost"

I thought maybe he didn't update my file since my old truck was 4 wheel. But he was dead fkn serious..and when I told him I thought a truck that was rear wheel didn't have to dick with that his face dropped. He oddly enough didn't try the air filter upsells even though he had them in his hand right there..hmm..

Dave, that method sounds not so brilliant. I'd rather just replace the water pump and see if the sound goes away. If not, oh well, it's preventative maintenance lol.

I was gonna drop my gas tank this summer to replace with an URD high flow pump. That way I would have an external in-line fuel filter, instead of having a self contained filter within the gas tank. The kit is pretty cheap and for my future plans, I'll need higher fuel flow anyway ;)

not gonna be able to complete future plans if you keep throwing parts at your truck for "preventative maintenance." let Dave come over and look at it if you dont feel comfy doing it. if your future plans involve an SC before SAS you might be gay...

Mine lets the light come one every single time before putting gas in her car. I try to fill up ever time it gets down to quarter of a tank.

I guess you going to waste money just have it fixed at a shop. It will challenge you. It pays 4 hours and the skill level is an A tech. A is the best and the level goes to a D. You are prob the D not making fun I don't want u to screw it up.

Sounds like a idler pulley from what I can hear from your crappy video .
Take the belt off and check the pulleys before you go changing random parts .

    I got a quote from a shop but I didn't follow through.

I'll probably have a shop do it because it's very difficult to get to and kind of a crucial component.

That is the problem, now that they can sell them (stupid seat belt recall:mad:) they ARE FLYING OFF THE LOTS.... Sandstone one we went to look at sold 12 hours before I got there ....

Plus incentives on these are nothing compared to other Toyo products; maybe get the rack and tire swap included at the original lowered sticker...:(

ALEX, WTH are you doing now....??????:) That dam Runner is going to be able to handle MOAB.........But are you ????? :)

Enjoy MEMORIAL DAY....thank a current serving member or a VET..even better...Thank them all....

Going out to PM the Tacoma....until it leaves ,still mine to take care of....:)

Plus there are rumors that 2014 is the last year so everyone wants to buy one. Kinda like how 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 were all the last production years of the FJ lol

Being able to handle Moab would be nice! I hope to move to the south west eventually. Property is CHEAP, wheeling is AWESOME, and you can just wander for miles in the desert. It's beautiful out there.

Once I get out wheeling again, I'll be able to handle pretty much anything you throw at me. I am one with the runner

Seems like the body-on-frame design will be a thing of the past one day.

I hope to god it's not.

I've seen many pictures of Cherokee's bent when people take the doors off. Unibody does not work! If Toyota gets rid of body on frame, I'll only buy pickups. I refuse to drive a "truck" that is built on a car chassis

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
Just do it. Make sure the fan clutch isn't engaged and check it. If you try to slow down the fan and it isnt stopping the fan is probably engaged and it'll take your hand off, if the fan isn't engaged it'll slow down immediately upon contact and stop easily.

Mono-chassis design is bad juju for vehicles that take a pounding, and once the structural integrity is lost all hell breaks lose.

A tree dropped on my buddies WRX STI and crumpled up the rear end. It was "repaired", but the vehicle was never the same again... Suspension problems, drivetrain problems, handling problems.

Like you said with the FJ, I've also seen rumors that the current 4Runner might be the last generation since the Highlander sells more (121K vs 48k). The Ford Explorer is now a unibody design and the escape when from small SUV to oversided Focus. Companies are doing this for cheaper production and more economical vehicles. Even unibody "trucks" are popping up, such as the Ridgeline and Amarok.
