I have two seperate questions. Number 1. Which three inch lift is the most true? I'm a noob and I see all kinda of people throwing out numbers like 1.75 and 2.5 on a lift kit they got. I want a three inch lift that is actually 3 inches or the one that gets me as close to possible. I don't have any added weight up front or in the rear. Mine is a double cab 4x4 however. Any insight on this would be great.
Right now I'm kind of between the 5100s, the OME, and the toyotec ultimate. This truck is 100% a street truck though.

My second question is: I bought the truck used and shortly after purchase I noticed that there is a spacer up front maybe 1 inch or so and I have taken a few pictures of the rear hoping that maybe someone can tell me if it looks stock or if there is any kind of lift there. Thanks guys.

How many leaf do you count in the rear? If you want 3" you can go OME 885's with top plate or 5100's at .85 and Eibach 1.6" springs.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
I just put on eibach 3" coils w/ bilstein 5100 set at lowest notch to keep it at stock ride height on the shock. The spring added about 3.25" but I'm sure it will settle to about 3" or just below.

In the rear I put the 5 pack OME DAKAR leaf springs w/ 5125's. It added about 2.25" to rear. It leveled and raised my truck. I'm very satisfied with the looks and with the way it drives.

I would suggest this combo to anyone! I would go with new leaf packs if u can.
Without spacer in front is my suggestion.

    GOODLUCK!

Before you can have the dealer add a 4th leaf but I think the TSB is over.

Yeah for sure. I ordered everything from Toytec. If you order over the phone your able to haggle the price a bit. 2 things your will need to order is a rear brake actuator bracket (or make one your self), and a exhaust relocation bracket. Have fun!

I'm on a 2007 is the brackets from the brakes and exhaust still required? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I just never heard anyone talk about it before.

In this case I would ask the person you speak with when ordering. Since I'm a 1st generation and your a 2nd gen. it may be different and unnecessary to order those brackets.

What I did before ordering was make a thread here on tacoma world about the "EXTRA" things you may need when installing a lift. I got a couple responses on the basic stuff people thought I would need. Then once I called ToyTec I asked if I would need those things and it turned out I only needed the 2 extra brackets to install the lift properly. Also, it's just reassuring that way once you install or have it installed you know you have everything needed and don't need to wait because your having to order another part.

Keep the questions coming, I like helping when I can

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
First gen is different than second, OP should be looking at different kits. He will not need the brake relocator thingy or the exaust relocation thingamabob :D. 5100s and eibach coils will work with a 2nd gen tho, just different results. For a full 3" you will need to set the 5100s at the .85" setting and add a 1/4 top plate spacer.

These are all good options, what is your budget? Becase it is not going to be on the trails are you trying to keep the price low? If so 5100s with stock coils will work, theh can be set at 2.5" of lift, and to get you closer to 3" you can add a 1/4" top plate spacer. A step up from that would be to get new coils as well, either go with the 5100s and eibach coils or old man emu 885s. Eibachs provide roughly 1.6" of lift (5100s can be preloaded to add more) 885s provide roughly 2.5" of lift. If you go with 885s OME shocks will pair well with them, they are valved specifically to be used with OME coils where as 5100s are not. Some vendors even claim pairing 5100s and 885s will void the warranty. On any of these setups you may need a 1/4" top plate spacer to achieve a full 3" lift. Also dont forget to compensate for taco lean. Another thing to consider when doing a full 3" lift is new upper control arms to help get you alignment in spec.

Oh ya the rear...add a leaf is a good affordable option, toytec sells a basic one, about 2" of lift. A better option is the 3 leaf progresive AAL wheelers or icon sells also 2". Or you can go with a whole new leaf pack like the dakars by OME which is closer to 3". Axle shims or a CB drop might be necesarry to help fix any driveline vibrations caused by changing the geometry of the rear driveline
