Thinking Super Charger for my 2012 dbl cab short bed. Would like some input from anyone running one now. Big $$$. Is it worth it?
Some good pics would be good too!

The worth of the supercharger is totally relative. Not too many people have a real practical reason for getting one. That said, think of it as another toy that you can enjoy every single time you drive the truck. I love mine. I have the power to merge into traffic, pass at ease, and drive across high (10,000'+) mountain passes with almost no effort. At these elevations the extra power and forced induction is making the truck work less and the highway mileage is reasonable. Around town I see 17.7 to 18 mpg and on the highway I have seen 21-22.5. No regrets here so for me it was worth it.

I paid around $1000 to have mine installed. Worth every penny to me.

They are usually found for 3900-4100 with fit kit.

I think mine was about the same and ended up being a great deal. The cost was negotiated before the install and then they put one of their long-time master mechanics on the job. He was really anal about the install which is the type of guy you want doing it. I told him no rush and to take his time. It took two full days with him getting pulled for another job but in the end the extra time was completely worth it. It looks like a factory install with wires routed and wrapped to where you could not tell it was done later.

Once installed, keep an eye on the coolant hose connections for the first couple of months. Two of mine backed off a little and leaked some coolant. All it took was tightening the hose and clamp (or installing a stronger clamp) and there hasn't been a problem since.

TRDparts4u is the cheapest I could find when I bought mine a couple months ago. They have them for $3890 for the complete kit, that's including the fit kit. Around $1000, give or take, seems to be the going rate to have a Toyota dealer do the install.

The added power is nice and they will only affect the MPG if you use the loud pedal a lot. I've been keeping track of my MPG since I had the Supercharger installed and my MPG in town has been between 19.3-19.9 and the freeway driving I've been getting a little over 22MPG

I just picked up a brand new blower and fit kit for 2800 from another forum, so if you look around, deals are to be found

Just bought my Tacoma and it had a supercharger already on it ;). Gas milage is not bad like above posts say but the Premium fuel is:eek:. Still the extra power is worth the extra money; IMO.

I've seen premium fuel consistently running about $.30 more per gallon over the low grade fuel. If you drive 15,000 miles per year and can get around 18 mpg with the Tacoma you are looking at an extra $250/year spent in fuel or just over $20/month.

19-20 MPG! I only get about 16-17 now without the Super Charger.

Can you hear the blower whine at normal speeds?

northern cal, at normal speeds the only time I can hear the supercharger, while driving at normal speeds, is when I am going up some kind of hill or incline. Normal driving on flat ground I don't hear anything.
