brakes diy...

did anyone do the brakes on the truck yet?
I have 16k miles on my truck already... pretty soon I'm going to have to do mine. Is it easy?

 

16k and already close to doing brakes?? damn.....you must be a stop and go driver from hell, or ride the hell outta your brakes.

brakes on the tacomas are super easy man.

How do you know you need to? Mine are at 68k..

 

You'll notice a nearly empty brake fuild res, you might here squeeking under braking pressure as the metal parts start to grind into the rotor. General loss of braking feel.

I'd say if you think you need brake @ 16K- look at how you are driving and double check to make sure they are adjusted and filled/bled properly.

 

I hate to bring back an old thread but. It has been a LONG while since I have done any brake work. And I am wanting to tackle this on my own you know DIY. I am sitting at 44k and I am hard on brakes. Blown out the calipers on my old 93 ford several times.

Been reading about what people are doing on here when they do their brakes. So I have ordered from Wheelers Off Road: Slotted rotors, Ceramic Front Brake Pads, and Stainless Brake Line Set Front/Rear.

As I have stated I haven't done Brake job myself in several years and I want to tackle this myself. I must say that I have never changed out brake lines. any tips on getting this done? And I can use off the shelf brake fluid for the Tacoma can't I? Just wanting to make sure as I have mainly done Fords and Chevy's and am not sure if the Tacoma requires special brake fluid (pardon my ignorance here).
